Report: Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Will Not Have Multiplayer

Now I know what you’re thinking, Activision can’t be that stupid can they? Let’s take this rumour with a big pinch of salt, but it does come from Charlie Intel who are quite trusted and know their Call of Duty.

So then, the report is that the unannounced Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was briefly listed by Amazon Italy will not include the multiplayer portion of the game. CharlieIntel say they have  seen supporting evidence and “believe this information to be accurate.”

They also say that Raven Software, who remastered MW1, are not working on the port, with Beenox as a possible replacement as they have job listings mentioning the Call of Duty franchise.

It does sound nuts, but the Amazon listing had the game priced at just  €19.99 with a release date at the end of April. The price is a lot less than the remastered MW1, and April is a very odd release date until you consider that it would place the game half way between CoD WWII and Black Ops IIII. By not including the MP then Activision avoid cannibalising players from WWII.

So the rumour does sound mad, but does make sense a little. We await an official word from Activision.

My favourite multiplayer of all the CODs so far too. Gutted.

Same, seems a very odd decision!

Oh dear. What’s the point with multiplayer/spec ops. It’s half the game, more than in fact.

Out of interest am I the only one who gets pissed off by the incorrect Roman numeral in the new Black Ops?

Romans used both IIII and IV, and more commonly IIII. Alternatively, think of it as tally marks.

Thought the IIII thing was to avoid confusion with an old Roman emperor’s abbreviated name, and it’s only on clock faces. It’s also weird that only for the number four, never for forty, four hundred, four thousand etc. It annoys me too.

I’m not sure I care whether the romans used it alot. We’ve adopted the numerals commonly with IV.

Fair enough. I actually saw a clock like that years ago and thought it was a factory error as it was in a discount store. Learn something new everyday.

But it’s COD. You take away the MP and it’s just there. A Micheal Bay wet dream on steroids. Did..did they forget why people buy COD every year?

I was going to say exactly that, perhaps a stand alone MP COD game with multiple map packs over the series so far. Free MP Cod and selling map packs at £10-£15 a time….

Considering it had the most fun online of any COD, it’d be stupid not to remaster the MP and tone down OMA perk. The OP of kill streaks is what made it fun.
