[UPDATE] Spyro: Reignited Officially Announced

UPDATE: Finally, the game has been officially revealed. Toys For Bob Design Director Tony Shadt has been talking about Spyro: Reignited on the PlayStation Blog, and it appears they are learning from the Crash Bandicoot remake.

“In the interest of getting the feel right, one of the first things we agreed upon internally was that Spyro’s original movement metrics — speeds and accelerations for walking, running, jumping, charging, gliding, flying, swimming, hovering, and more – should be matched as closely as possible,” he said.

He also reveals they created a new tool, the Spyrocope, which harvested assets, collision detection, and other information from the original game so it could be used in the remake. The game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, no mention of a Switch version at present, and the game is confirmed for September.

Here’s the English trailer.

Original Story: Bonjour! La bande-annonce de Spyro: Reignited a fuité mais c’est la version française. Sûrement Activision annoncera le jeu bientôt. For the less multi-lingual, the French trailer for Spyro: Reignited has leaked out and it looks blooming gorgeous.

I’m all over this like a rash. The original Spyro is one of my fav’s, and this looks better than I’d hoped for.

Wow, looks great. Definitely needs to have the original music though. It was as much a character as the Dragon. It won’t be the same with anything else.

Great news, I was more a fan of Spyro than Crash as I was too much of a muppet to get past the first level. Hopefully I can get my kids into a bit of purple dragon action when their little thumbs can work a controller!
