F1 2018 Races On To PC And Consoles This August

The Codemasters have revealed the release date of F1 2018. I say revealed, that sounds very theatrical as if they have just popped up beside me with a bunch of fans made from colourful feathers and then slowly shimmied them away to leave the date ‘Friday 24th August 2018’ in sparkly glitter letters hanging in the air.

That didn’t happen, they just sent an email with a load of quotes from the people who have worked on the game, like this:

“We were delighted by the reception that the highly-acclaimed F1 2017 game received, and are extremely excited to be able to further build on such a strong starting point with F1 2018” said Paul Jeal, F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Over the past few years we have engaged heavily with our fan-base to understand what is important to them and we cannot wait to unveil more details on features we know our fans will love. Career mode has been further expanded to immerse players even deeper into the world of F1 than before, with the return of a highly requested feature back into the franchise. We are also adding more classic cars, again listening to our fans as to which of the historical F1 cars they would most like to virtually drive next. Outside of those headline additions there are many other great enhancements to be revealed before the game launches.”

That does make my job much easier and as I can cut and paste huge swathes of text in, but it’s not all that exciting for you to read as it’s full of buzzwords like immerse, enhance, and engage.

It would be quite nice to get a press release like this:

“F1 2018 is going to kick the nuts of F1 2017” said Paul Jeal, F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters. “It’s so good I would sell my children just to get a copy, and I suggest you do the same, or at least head down to the docks and ‘entertain’ a few sailors to make a bit of cash until you can afford to buy the game.”

Anyway, F1 2018, out 24th August on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

I’ll probably have been fired by then.

I’ll have to find some children to sell before August, will a nephew or niece do?
