A belated Happy Vita day, and in celebration of this fabulous looking console's launch, we've got a little contest for you. It's part of one of my favourite franchises, and one of the games that has quite a bit of positive press and a nice buzz surrounding it,
MotorStorm: RC.

There's a new trailer out to celebrate the Mass Effect 3 "Space Edition". For those who don't know, over the course of the next few days EA/BioWare will be launching copies of Mass Effect 3 into the upper atmosphere. You'll be able to
track the location, and the first person at the landing site will get an early copy of the game, plus a "one of a kind" fan prize package.
It starts today in San Francisco, before hitting Las Vegas, New York, London, Paris and Berlin. In response, expect Activision to project the next Modern Warfare trailer onto the moon.

Scientists have proved that in 99.95% of all cases of nostalgia, the reality is a massive disappointment. This begs the question, why on earth am I recommending the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection?
Well it's cheap and you do get an awful lot of games for your money - despite some real stinkers there are a good few hours of gaming gold hidden away.

While the rest of the staff are waxing lyrical about the PS Vita itself and the, frankly outstanding, line-up of launch-day games available on the shelves and the PSN Store I thought it time to take a quick look at something that's been overlooked. You've got your shiny new PS Vita, now how are you going to
keep it shiny.
Having looked at various options as they've become available over the past couple of months the one that I finally settled upon was Sony's own
Official PS Vita Starter Kit. Official accessory lines are normally the expensive option but the Official Starter Kit packs an awful lot of value into a £21.99 package.

MCV have revealed that GAME is to close Gameplay.co.uk, who they acquired back in 2004. Those who use Gameplay are to be directed to Gamestation's website as of March 1st.
The report also mentions that 35 GAME stores are to close, to bring the total number down to 550 outlets by Christmas 2013. The company hasn't had the best month, not stocking certain titles, including the Ubisoft Vita launch line-up.

It has been announced that Auto Club Revolution will be getting the Daytona International Speedway race track added to the game’s licensed roster.
“We’re heavily committed to bringing the best possible game content including cars, upgrade parts and race tracks to
Auto Club Revolution”, said executive producer Doug Wolff. “When we see the ‘most requested track’ lists from our testers then Daytona – the American dream – is right up there alongside Silverstone and Spa”.

This isn’t Housemarque’s first portable release in their Stardust series but the previous one was a fairly lacklustre affair, stymied by the PSP’s control restrictions. This PlayStation Vita outing is something of a fresh start for the Stardust name on portables then, and it won’t be held back by hardware this time.
Super Stardust Delta is practically the same as the PS3 version, with a few important differentiations. There are now three different special weapons, although they all make use of the same limited pool of Special Attacks. There is a bomb, as in the PS3 version but there is also the option to create a miniature black hole which swallows up smaller asteroids and enemies or let loose a radial burst of missiles to stave off enemies and allow yourself a little space.

According to Famitsu, Nintendo's downloadable service will soon be adding a new system. On March 14th, Game Gear games will appear to buy on the Virtual Console for ¥300 each. That roughly converts to £2.40.
The first three titles Sega are offering are The GG Shinobi, Sonic & Tales 2 and Dragon Crystal Shirani's Maze. That's a good start but Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi and Columns soon, please!

Fract is an interesting game. The game is actually still in development and the build that's available to play is a two two year old beta that's freely available from the game's website. I wouldn't be recommending said beta if it wasn't worth playing though, so do continue reading whilst I explain what this unique experience is exactly.
[drop]The game is as a first person puzzle adventure game that's set in an abstract world built from basic, vibrantly coloured shapes. The neon lines and glowing hues bring the Tron movies to mind and look utterly gorgeous. The world is a vast area that seems to be in a cavern of some description, the walls and ceiling of which are made of shards of stone that overlap each other all around. The puzzles you encounter are based around machinery that you will need to unravel in order to progress.

Gearbox are getting all dubsteppy with the latest Borderlands 2 trailer. They've announced the release date for September 18th in the US and 21st around the rest of the world.
Judging from the trailer, it's everything that made us love the first Borderlands but bigger, louder and with a bit more wobble bass. The music is Doomsday by Nero but I think they've missed a trick not signing Skrillex. I mean, Skrillex even looks like a borderlands character, surely there's a tie-in opportunity too good to miss?

Think My Little Pony meets Resident Evil with a touch of Buffy for good measure (could the character 'Cordelia' be a nod to everyone's favourite schoolgirl vampire slayer?)

Sony's US CEO and President, Jack Tretton, has spoken to IGN in the days before the Vita's western release. In a fairly lengthy interview, Tretton insisted that Sony were happy with the way the Vita was launching.
We would expect nothing but positivity from Tretton, of course, but it's reassuring to see that Sony aren't panicking over what some are insisting is a lacklustre launch in Japan. Tretton insists that 500,000 units in three weeks is a strong launch -- even going so far as to say he'd be happy with that figure in North America too.

Terraria dev Re-Logic has announced that development on Terraria has finished. Speaking in a forum post on the official Terraria forums, the game's creator, Redigit, has announced that there will be no future updates to Terraria, barring at least one more bugfix.
Naturally, this has hit the Terraria community quite hard, partly due to the suddenness of the announcement. The developers have previously spoken about adding features that have not yet been added into the game, and now presumably never will be.

Namco's business model might be sound - sell the game off cheap and add in DLC along the way - but it's unproven, and, in a game like Ridge Racer, feels a little disingenuous. Not least of all because the initial bundle - three tracks and five cars - is nothing but frugal for the £20 entry price, even if that does also entitle you to the first few batches of DLC if you buy the game early.
[drop]That said, there's a certain charm to how this latest Ridge is composed and constructed. Rather than the usual career mode that Namco put out in their flagship racer, this Vita version sees you dip in and out of online races, time trials and single events at leisure, racking up points for your chosen team (from four) and thus contributing to a greater, global tally.
