There probably has already been a topic to do with this before now, but looking back a couple of pages I can't find it. Anyway, are there any games before now that you've really enjoyed, and feel that it didn't do as well critically/commercially as it should have done, or is just overlooked?
I have a few I think that the above lines apply to:
First up is Singularity, which Activision did not advertise enough off at all! Not tried the mp at all, but I bought it in a Steam sale last year and the single player was completely captivating, very good fun and the storyline had some good twists and turns. Really enjoyed it, and it really should have sold more units than it did! A shame there won't be a sequel for it.
Second is World in Conflict on the PC, it did ok commercially and very well critically but it really should have sold more than it did. Massive Entertainment got it exactly right with the alternate Cold War storyline and I've never been so immersed in a story on a strategy game before or since (Alec Baldwin was an excellent narrator). Multiplayer was a riot as well, very very tactical and suited me down to the ground. Hoping they do a sequel but Massive Entertainment are stuck on Assassins Creed stuff, last I heard.
For now I'll finish off with Overlord and it's sequel, which is a bit like Marmite from what I've seen with people who've tried it. I loved the humour and the quirky storylines in the games but equally, a lot of people hated them. Me, my brother and my sister all used to take it in turns playing the games: some of the best gaming memories I have.
So, again guy's n gal's, I ask you a question (uh oh… ): Have you played/enjoyed any games you thought were underrated?

I'd say Brink is under-rated. It's not the greatest FPS but it's enjoyable enough and I'm sure it can be gotten pretty cheap now.
Also I think the Resistance series often gets lost amongst the more military style shooters like Battlefield and CoD. The reviews are usually solid yet it doesn't sell near as much. I'd of called Resistance 3 shooter of the year last year, as enjoyable as the competition were.

Not an underrated game as it was praised everywhere with top ratings, but very undersold for some reason was Rayman Origins. It could be that people are bypassing the PS3 version in favour of the Handheld when it's released, that's my guess anyhoo.

I agree with most of your guys choices not brink lol but i would say that there quite a few i have played here goes!..
50 Cent Blood On The Sand-Suprisingly it's a good little shooter if you want some mindless over thr top violance, the gameplay aint to bad and it has a decent soundtrack with a wide variety of guns.
Metro 2033-It's a pretty awesome FPS it not as talked about as most other games out there but it's a great games and has a really great dark feel to it.
Wolverine Origins-It's actually a top notch game for a movie tie in game,it doent have much of a story but it's fun enough to want you to keep playing.

Metro 2033 would of been in my next compilation, also bought that in a Steam sale and I absolutely loved it, really happy there's gonna be a sequel. Probably the most atmospheric FPS I've ever played.
Brink was pretty good as well, shame the PS3 downtime pretty much wrecked the PS3 launch so there wasn't many players online. One of my 10 plats

Yep, brink was good but underrated, as was enslaved, I really enjoyed that game, lots of fun. Sid meiers civ rev, got slated for being dumbed down for consoles but I've never played a pc civ so loved it. Also endwar, got 8s in the press but should've been more, lovely game. Hm, what else have I enjoyed more than I thought I might? Erm, nope off the top of my head I can think of nothing! May check ky trophy list and come back later with more.

Haze – under the shoddy graphics is a deep twisted story. Honestly surprised people didn't like it.

@Mickey, You mention 50 Cent. I have played Bulletproof, remarkably a very enjoyable game.
Underrated games: Maybe Enslaved, I took me a while to come round to my senses but Enslaved is a great game. Ignore the shoody camera angle and it's great.
I feel the Mx Vs ATV series is underrated, some great split screen action for any racing fan.
Mirror's Edge is often overlooked. Epic game which deserves a sequel/

I loved Civ Rev and ive been playing Civ since no2 :) im afraid its my often idiotically snooty fellow PC gamers that turned their noses up simply because it went onto a console, they are the same people that think the HL2 was cheapened by being ported.
i can think of two games that were better than they were perceived to be:
Singularity: This was actually one of the better FPS`s ive played in some time, solid story, good presentation and fun guns, what more do you need?
and
Hearts of Iron 3: best strategy game ive played in years, massive learning curve to be sure and if you havent seen a Lets Play first your doing it wrong but so damn rewarding, my conquest of the nordic countries and the soviet union as Sweden is one of my greatest gaming achievements.

I bought my sister Enslaved for her birthday, she'll let me have a go on it eventually hopefully (she borrows dozens of games off me!) . Looking forward to it

Mirror's Edge - game seems to be a love/hate type but one of my favourites this gen and I even managed to get the Platinum trophy despite the difficulty that the infamous Speed Run's provided.
Valkyria Chronicles - had good reviews but didn't manage the sales it deserved. Has some of the best graphics I have ever seen in a video game and had a pretty unique gameplay style, kind of a turn based meets third person shooter type of game.
Wet - Fun game, with pretty interesting graphics and plenty of over the top gameplay, surprised so many people dislike it.
Dragon Ball Raging Blast - Game had less content and was accused of being dumbed down from the PS2 Budokai Tenkaichi games but I had loads of fun with the simple to pick up fighting mechanics and beautiful anime style graphics. I enjoyed it so much that I even put up with some nasty trophy requirements and got the Platinum trophy after hours and hours of 'grinding'.

Absolutely. I can honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt, a sequel would be my most anticipated game of all time and I'd cry like a lil girly girl with happiness, if they ever actually announce one.

I had a great time with Afro Samurai, no idea how well known that one is but I wasn't particularly familiar with it before I bought it on a whim.

Dynasty Warriors 2, the gameplay is great and SP beam attacks never get old. Much prefer it over Dw3 which I thought was a bit limited in the level design.
Raging Blast 2 was much better than RB, shame the next was QTEball Z than something that makes you feel part of the anime with total control. Can't wait for the next gen then maybe not much limits?
Sonic and Sega Racing, fun racer
Yakuza, sales good in Japan but not so well outside
Monster Hunter; the greatest game ever…. but its not great numbers in the US or UK.
White Knight Chronicles, low reviews but it was a nice RPG, world was beautiful.

Mirrors Edge is a very good call, and yog I agree with you about Overlord, I played Overlord 2 and clubbing baby seals to death was hilarious!
I'd go for Comet Crash, a brilliant PSN Tower Defence game. It's slightly different to your generic TD game as you yourself have to build and send waves of your own bots to destroy the enemies' base.

Im sure Comet Crash was free with plus about a year ago. Very different style of TD but it was quite hard.

Yeah, and that's why I loved it. You had to chose your strategy carefully. e.g Defend at first, save up your money, then go on an all out assault, or you do mix defending with constant attacking. It was great how you controlled the mother-ship thingy and could grab asteroids that your turrets would then shoot to get you cash.

I agree with you with Wolverine. For a movie tie-in it was brill. I think it was the 1st tie-in that I played that was not the film story regurgitated.
Games I find underrated:
Captain America: Super Soldier: The combat system was actually very good and very reminiscent of Batman: Arkham Asylum Combat. Nice storyline and a continuance of the main film. (I actually played the game before the film which confused the hell out of me.)
Split/Second: A brilliant racer with a new focus on the racing style. I don't think it stayed as a big seller for longer than a week. I saw the price drop very quickly and very frequently over time – to the point that I cud pick up on the PSN store for a penny under a tenner.

Is Comet Crash similar to Anomaly? You do the same but in Anomaly you send like 4 vehicles into an alien shield thing? then after that you have to fight alien towers, that game can be really tough its really fun..
and… more TDs? theres a sweet game on Steam named Sanctum which is essentialy a FPS combined with tower defence, great stuff.
