Seeing as Blops is now offically the game with the best video game ending ever? Which i disagree with that popularity list of games What do you think is the best video game ending ever? Feel free to do it in list form as long as it doesn't cause the forums to break. ;)
Here are my top 10 video game endings that i believe should be given the title of the best ending ever. In no particular order.
- Metal Gear Solid 4, It is excellent and closes every loose end. The way it's done and seeing a certain someone return at the end. I can't explain that well as it's very long and i've not played MGS4 for a while.
- Dragon Age Origins. It's a bit cliched, i admit but it finishes off the plot very well. You've slayed the Archdemon and have saved the world. The new King or current queen holds a cermony and the game tells you what happens regarding your choices.
- Red Dead Redemption, it's a very sad ending and is a symbol of the West ending.
- FF7, i feel it's the best of the FF games that i own mainly due to the climatic conclusion and the feeling that you have failed to stop Metoer even though you killed Sephiroth. Holy ends up failing only for the Lifestream itself to help defeat Meteor. Also the music is used very well.
- SOTC. Watch it on Youtube, nuff said.
- Devil May Cry 3. You end up seeing how far Dante has come.
- Metal Gear Solid 3. It gives you an idea why Big Boss went down the path he did.
- GOW3, Now that is one way to end a character's story.
- Uncharted 2. An excellent way to end an epic adventure.
- GTA Vice City. It had that 80s mobster feel and you now own Vice City.

Enslaved.
Deus ex hr.
Bioshock 1.
I like ending that have a twist, not merely wrapping up the storyline. Each of those games have developments you didn't necessarily see coming.

Finally got around to creating the thread then?
So on to my top 8
- Heavy Rain – the ending I experienced was emotional and deserves to be top, a masterpiece in storytelling.
- Dead Space 2 – By the end of the game Isaac's mind was in pieces, it was so fragile and horrifying to watch, and it was a great battle against his mind at the end. Great action end to a very tense game.
- All Uncharted games – all three of them end with a lovely witty comment.
- Enslaved – Loved the idea of the huge triangle at the end living off the memory. Reminded me of the matrix.
- Modern Warfare 1 – The only good ending to the Call Of Duty games IMO
- Killzone 2 – Liked it when all the helghan ships flew past just as Visari was defeated.
- Red Dead Redemption – It was a cruel world back then, still revenge is sweet.
- Bioshock 2 – Great way to round up the story, got out of rapture!

I felt that the ending to Dues Ex:R was a bit weak. But i was surprised after the credits.
@origamikiller I'm guessing it's because you are in that game as well.
How on earth did i forget about Heavy Rain?
Prince Of Persia:The Two Thrones. It's wraps up the trilogy and then goes full cycle.
The ending i tend to get on Bioshock 2 always make me shed a few tears.

Black Ops – Great story, tied up well.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood – Cliffhanger.
Modern Warfare 3 – End of an era.
Killzone 2 – The bad guy dies.
Bad Company 2 – Great ending because it ended. Stupid story, a relief to finish it.

My favourite ending of all time has to be Pink Panther's Passport to Peril I played this so much as a kid and I still remember everything about that game.

Best ever for me was Ace Combat: Belkan War. Came around all too quickly, but was so satisfying.

Yeah, RDR gets my vote too. I can think of a whole lot more rubbish game endings than good ones.

A good indication is that I actually remember them because games fall in and out of my memory as though it's a sieve, so I'll put the one that popped into my mind as soon as I saw the thread title.
Mafia 2. Perhaps not the close to the story I wanted but it was a brilliant ending to one of the best games I've played on PS3.

Mafia 2? I'd love to say I knew how it finished but I get fed up trying that Docks/Warehouse bit over and over.

Zelda: Twighlight Princess; the ending ensures you leave playing with a smile on your face and a sense of fulfillment
Worst… Uncharted 3. Predictable, cheesy, lazy and rushed conclusion to an otherwise perfect game.

Stupid gunfight bit, late on in the game? That wasn't a high point for me either. Aerobes is spot on with the ending, surprised I'd forgotten about it. One of those endings where there's the way it could have played out, and you'd have probably bet on it happening, and the way it actually plays out which catches you off-guard.

The main one's for me are:
RDR- Simple but very good and sums up the wild west era perfectly.
Mafia II – Again simple but unexpected
Heavy Rain – My ending was utterly brilliant. Top class story telling.

Myth: The Fallen Lords – Audacious raid behind enemy lines, and then a tense and fraught battle to kill an immortal enemy!
Broken Sword – The ending's a bit weaker than the rest of the game, but it's an awesome journey getting there, so that counts for something in my books.
Halo – No boss battle, just a warthog. Awesome.
Half Life 2 – A very cinematic endgame showdown.
Super Mario Land 2 – Oust that Wario prat from your castle.
