OfflineIn order for there to be a hero, someone must be a villian. And we have seen a lot of them in gaming. From the typical Final Fantasy villains to villians that are complex and you end up feeling sorry for them. To avoid having a massive list and to hopefully, make it easier to decided who are/is your favourite villain/s, i want to know who is your favourite villain of this generation? Please try to avoid major spoilers as well as minor ones.
Vaas. I've yet to get Far Cry 3 and he is already one of my favourite villains. He is bloody crazy and very likeable, unless you happen to get on his bad side. If i like the villian before i even insert the game into my console, then congratulations, you have written an excellent villain.
Loghain. He is the main villain of DAO but he is just trying to defend his country at any cost. A famed hero who helped to free Ferelden from the french i mean Orlesians, he became a bit of a tyrant. He outlaws the Grey Wardens(an order that is famed for saving the world from the Darkspawn) and starts a Civil War during a blight. You are supposed to help him but i can see why he did the major plot thing that lead to the events of DAO after the first major bit. Would you be okay if you had fought against an occupying force 30 years ago, only for the son of your best friend to allow them to come into your country with an army? Unlike most RPG villains, he seems to feel a bit guilty for what he did.

OfflineVaas is an awesome antagonist. You may find him a whole lot less likeable once you've played the first ten minutes of the game, but his charisma (and the actor's voice skills) make for a very unique villain.
I also like Ulfric in Skyrim. Some may class him an anti-hero as opposed to an out-and-out villain, but his power-hungry nature, combined with a strong dose of underlying racism, makes for a character I felt uncomfortable serving under.

OfflineI found myself not really caring about any of the main quest villains in Skyrim. :O Alduin was just a dragon on Steroids and Ulfric, a power hungry nord. Tis a shame that they didn't write Ulfric as a person who wants to free Skyrim but doesn't want to tear it apart in the proccess instead of having the you are either with me or against me character that has been done to death in different types of media.

OfflineEach to their own I guess. I played Skyrim's Civil War tale from both sides (obviously on separate Saves) and working for both factions left some distaste. Which is what the writers planned, so I see that as a positive result.
Shout out to the female doctor villain in Bioshock 2 too (haven't played Bio 1 yet).

OfflinePlayed a LOT of games this gen. (moaned about most, lol), but so far? nothing come close to some classics of old.
System Shock's SHODAN still remains THE bitch to beat (just chilling), but if it's this gen…hmmn.
Bloke who set off the Nuke in Modern Warfare, never saw that section coming and just had such an impact at the time.
Nazi chap (i'm U/S with names) in Saboteur, he just came across as a right James Blunt.
But in all honesty, biggest villian?
ME, well, my character, talking Demon's Souls, Maiden Astraea (and Garl Vinland), not since THAT sequence on PS1 Silent Hill (where nurse Lisa just wanted a hug..and i….just pushed her away!!!), have i felt so quilty about what i had done, just put the pad down and was sat there thinking about my actions.
Video gaming…at it's best!.
Other than that…errrrm, Sony? :-)

OfflineVisari gets my vote too, that opening cutscene is something else. Its very stirring and sets the tone perfectly for the game, shame he **** ****** so unceremoniously! Rico, you wally.
I don't know why I blanked out what happened to him, its not as if there's going to be anyone left who hasn't played the game but intends to

OfflineIt's so hard to choose one so here's my top three….
MGS4- Liquid Ocelot.
What's better then somebody being controlled by an arm? NOTHING!!!!!
Halo series- 343 Guilty Spark.
What makes Guilty Spark so great is that he’s a wildcard, helping you when it serves his interests, but perfectly willing to melt your face off with a laser if your actions violate his programming protocols. Behind the innocent, child-like voice is a deeply manipulative and conflicted personality with a fatal attachment to his facility. When Guilty Spark gets in your way, it’s not because he’s arbitrarily evil or power-hungry like so many other villains; there’s a surprising level of human complexity to his motivations that make for a very authentic character. And oh yeah, he kills the most beloved character in the entire Halo series.
Heavy Rain- Origami Killer
Another rarity in video game villains is one that’s become quite iconic in the medium of film–the serial killer. Heavy Rain‘s Origami Killer adheres to all of the classic psychological trauma and motivations of film’s greatest serial killers, but with the added goodness of interactive entertainment’s multiple endings. But what makes the Origami Killer a memorable villain in his own right is the fact that he’s holding your son captive, testing how attached you are to your finger.
