I got stuck at that bit too but if you just head upwards from the door and move left (or right, not sure) slightly you should be able to get onto the balcony then jump from their on to the roof. Took me a couple tries.

Don't stand in the balcony, stand on the edge/ledge and jump across, I think. Not played AC in a while so I can't remember entirely. Try YouTube.

Sorry I wasn't much help but at least we have found some sort of solution. I know a lot of people have had problems with this section. One of the only glitches I encountered though.

That bits is annoying, thought they were fixing it in the patch, but apparently not.
@ CapatinMurdo -> Only glitch I found to, was really quite surprised it was describied as glitchy in reviews.

lol, glad you made it, worst glitch i expeirienced was when i fell under venice's map. i was running from guards, ran up the side of a house, then i fell through the wall into the house, after 15 mins of runnig up walls, i did a roly poly and fell through the floor,and ened up swimming everywhere underneath the map

if thats aimed at me, not sure, i ran up a few boxes, jumped onto a house the fell through the wall, did a roly poly against the wall and i sunk downwards

never tried it again, but might later, i did look on youtube, and it shows people underneath every single map i think, so iknow its not just venice

With any open world game you're going to encounter a few glitches. I've completed the story, the uplay bonus content and the 3 extra missions from the Black Edition and haven't found anything other than the Altair dream beam.
If people have experienced glitches then it's a very rare occurrence or they deliberately want to break it, i.e. glitchers.
