Awww… nothing exciting? Like being subjected to an excessive amount of spinach? Or being forced to wear hideous clothes?

Well it's not a scary game, just more of a scary moment/creature thing. I've been renting Gears of War 1, and I meet the berserker for the first time yesterday. Anyone who's played it will know what i'm talking about, just holy shit! It actually made me scared of continuing. (Yeah it's old, but i'm completely new to gears.)

Compared to some other stuff, your bullying is nothing.

They've been said before but BioShock and Dead Space. BioShock is mostly scary at the beginning. After a certain point it sort off goes to the background. I remember my heart nearly stopped when I picked up a tonic and turned around to find a splicer standing there. Also BioShock is great with the lighting (which is turned off a lot)
Now Dead Space is really scary. It's the feeling that around every corner there will be something ready to jump at you. I'm playing the game together with a friend at his place (only at night) so it's probably a bit less scary for me than for those who play it alone.

I'm currently playing Dead Space and loving it, it's not scary or a pant spoiling game but VERY atmospheric due to the music. There have been moments where its made me jump but that's the whole point of the game, EA have done a fantastic job. I've played the demo of FEAR 2 and found the bits with Alma really eerie.

For those that have played dead space it is a lot scarier when you are drunk. One of those monster things jumps out and because your drunk you can't react quick enough so you end up running away and getting trapped. Then you discover that you have no ammo for any decent weapons (caused by not buying any in your drunken state). That is scary.

I didn't think i was that scary and when did we meet ? LOL
Dead Space wins this thread hands down. It's scary in a make you jump out of your skin way though more than a gore scary.
The atmospherics, the sound, the lighting is all just incredible and the standard other games should be judged by. With that in mind, it's why i'm hugley disapointed with the AvP demo. Didn't feel scary or atmospheric at all, which was a huge part of the draw to it in the first place.

TBH i was afraid of the super mutants in fallout 3 and stopped playing the game for 2 weeks but i eventually stopped being afraid of them.

Dead Space was not scary.. It had a few jumpy moments, but in no way does it win any thread awards. You know what was scary? Ravenholm in Half Life 2. That scared the bejesus out of me. I dont mind admitting that I ran like a girl out of that level.. In fact, I think that was even more scary than Silent Hill.
I'm not even going to comment on Uncharted 1..
