I just noticed the advert for the bidding site 'SWOOPO' here on TSA and was faced with a countdown and a bid button. Now the website was claiming that a Wii had just been sold at a little over £20 and if I had clicked bid I probably would have been posted a Wii and only lost around £20 out of my wallet.

An iPhone was also 'sold' for a mad price. Well.. is this 'SWOOPO' site genuine and safe? Anyone had any experience with this site or 'mad bidding' sites in general?

I am curious because I am slightly bored heading into new year and also I am wondering if it actually is too good to be true (which is 99% likely).

I'm pretty sure they are genuine but a bit catchy.

You have to pay for bids. Like you can buy 10 bids and every time you bid the price goes up by 1p. Every bid resets the clock to 15 seconds until it ends. So to win you have to spend a shit load on bids and then the price of the item or be bloody crafty with a few bids.

That's how they get ya!

Thank you very much for explaining exactly what the catch is in this instance.

Much appreciated. :)
