Hello there,
As you may have seen in the thread named “Good news for CC_Star and Stanford Uni.” TSA has it's very own Folding@home team (Team 78731).
The aim of this thread is to give a more meaningful title which will entice people to seek out information on Folding@home, joining our team, (which will help us towards (some form of) domination on the Folding@home leaderboards) and general discussion.
Every month there will be a monthly post…
a ) – if nofi says so - on the main page…
b ) – otherwise – on this thread…
…showing the top folders on the team (up to the top 50 (if we ever get that many)).
Here's TheDeathAvenger with further information.
For more information about Folding@home you can visit their site. You can also download Folding@Home for your PC, which makes use of unused processing power. It should be noted that there is clients for high performance systems, however they are not recommended for the general user as some of them are in the beta stage and in general can cause problems. Therefore to be safe (for Windows) just install the system tray client.
To join the TSA Folding@Home team do the following:
1. Start up Folding@home (i.e. Life with PlayStation)
2. When it has finished loading press the Triangle button
3. Select 'Current Channel' (by pressing the X button)
4. Select 'Identity'
5. Select 'Join an Existing Team'
6. Enter the number '78731' and press the Start button
7. Sit back and relax (or do whatever else it is that you want to do) as your PS3 helps unlock the mysteries of protein folding.
So set your PS3's and PC's to fold for the TSA team, tell your friends, and then after you've done all that discuss away.
Jas-n (feat. TheDeathAvengers words, because we don't want no arguments.

Good to hear you've started folding PK.
Jas-n – good idea, a new post (with a suitable heading) will hopefully draw the attention of more potential folders.

Why thanks you, although the annoying thing is it thinks
Folging@home is an e-mail address so it keeps linking it, i tried unlinking it, but no luck.

Just updated and have joined TSA's Folding Team. My PS3 is currently folding.
I used to fold on my first PS3 before it broke, and it seems I only fully completed 4 work units. Ah wells, better than nothing.

Started? I used to fold back in the early days of the PS3 just for a laugh. Must say it sucks to fold on the laptop/pc as I have no idea what the hell is going on and how much of it is done. If only on the PS3 you could fold in the background…

Imagine that though. The WU I'm doing at the moment is 6h40m from start to finish, with it set to Folding@Home Expert (i.e. all available resources put into folding). So if you had it running in the background whilst you're doing something else like gaming then it would probably take like a month for it to complete.

(Presuming you're on windows) On the bottom right, you should see a logo that looks like a deformed windows logo, that's the folding@home logo, hover over it and you should see a number xxx/xxx, that's how it's progressing, although you can't se how long it will take.
I also recommend you set up a scheduled task for F@h. So when your computer starts F@h will continue with its work automatically.

I think folding on the PS3 is better. I'll continue to fold on the laptop too. I'm used to knowing exactly how much it's progressing.

I'll join later the team later on.
I folded about 25 units on my last PS3. Im guessing it starts from scratch as its not tied to your PSN ID?

I know that but at least it'll continue to do it. Of course like now I would be focusing on folding.

No it's not. You just enter the Donor name you last used. I'm starting from scratch as I didn't use Paragonknight before.

Yeah, please use your TSA ID, as its easier for us to know who's who.
Folding Rankings (10/05/09)
Right, if I remember (so might be a bit later than expected) I shall do the rankings on the first day of each month. But seeing as we've just (re)pushing our team the past day or two, I thought I'd do the first table now.
Note: If you've uploaded a WU and you do not appear on this list then on't worry the serever's havn't updated yet.
**Information based on official stats, as of 15:15 (GMT)**
Team Ranking 21,281 / 158,205

Who's Binchi? I don't think he/she folds anymore.
Why does folding restart on the laptop?

Wait wait wait. I've changed my donor name a couple of times, so does that mean it resets everytime?
On my PS3 folding screen (where it shows time to completion etc) I've done 4 WUs and my donor name for that was LiquescentShadow. I changed just now to SpeedShadow510, so does that mean it reset my stats?

I closed the foldingathome application on the laptop and I have it so that it saves every 6 minutes (It's in increments of 3 minutes and I've put the slider to the second line) and I quit the application. I turn the application on and it starts at 0. Right now it's on 5/500 when before I quit it was on 20/500. What's the point of having a save system if it doesn't save?

Maybe you should leave it open? Just a thought
