I have been looking on various websites for some cheap PC games to play on my new laptop. I came across Championship Manager 2010 and was shocked to see it was already knocked down to £9.99 on play.com and on gameplay.co.uk was even under £7!
Curious as to why it's such a cheap game despite it not even being 2010 yet, I looked at reviews. All fairly good, next I went onto the demo to try the game myself and I was really, really impressed.
I am seriously debating it as it is a much, much cheaper alternative to Football Manager 10, but I was wondering if any of you knew why it is at such a cheap price already. Is it purely due to the fact that it can not compete with FM10 therefore a significant price deduction is essential, or is there something I am missing???

It's been cheap since the launch when Eidos said that you can pay whatever you want for the downloadable version, through their store. I paid £2.51 in total, 1 pence for the game and a £2.50 transaction charge.
I think the reason for it being so cheap is because the majority of people must've already purchased the download version and the other retailers are not making enough sales as a result.

Oh… I was unaware of that downloadable option. I may check that out (if it's still valid).
Cheers

It isn't still valid, it went back up to its normal retail price on the official day of release. You could only pay what you want if you pre-ordered the game, which I did and have played it cumulatively for about a hour. This may also go a long way to explaining why it is so cheap, its rubbish, get Football Manager 2010 instead, costs more but is 100% better

Like Brendan says, it's rubbish. Get Football Manager 2010, it's well better.

But… just picture this. CM10 – £7. FM10 – £30.
FM is over 4x the price, is it 4x the quality?
I know FM IS better, there is no debate really, but is it really THAT much better.

FM10 is £19.99 in the GAME sale. Certainly worth it. For the hours you get you can't scoff at the price.

Well I have opted for downloading CM10 for free.
I may try and get Fm10 for the same price but it is a fair bit harder so I will debate paying for it when a significant price reduction is present.
