Ok, first of all, i was a little uncertain where to put this topic, i didnt put it in the MW2 forum because its not really about the game but about censorship. I ended up 50/50 between this and the general forum, sorry if i chose the wrong one…
Now on Topic. I finally got myself to rent MW2, wasnt really that interested, but thought arental couldnt hurt. If i bought the game i would have got the UK or US version, mainly because i dont like the german voice acting in most games, but as i live in austria and my video store only has the german version, im stuck with that…
Put the game in and played a while, reached the "No Russian" level and got myself ready to shoot a couple civilians (never understood what all the fuss was about, wouldnt be the first ones i killed in a game…). Pulled the trigger and…. WTF??? I lost the mission because i shot a civilian! No kidding! Im playing an undercover agent posing as a terrorist and lose the mission if i do what im supposed to do? So i have the choice to skip the mission or play it but i cant do anything? Its just a slightly interactive cutscene this way…
I did a little Video with my mobile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..CCD-ZzbONc
The text when i shoot is obviously german and says something like "You hit a civilian – watch where you shoot" (even wheni only hit the cop in the 2nd try, technically not a civilian…)

Must just be the German censorship. Wierd though, because you can still watch others shoot the civilians.

Yeah I read about this around the Internet. The german version has been altered so 'No Russian' is only a spectator level. The bad thing is that Activision never really told anyone they were going to do it. Bit sneaky if you ask me.

Interesting.
The weird thing about that is that they allow you to shoot.
If it's a spectator level, why allow some interaction?

Well its only a spectator level up until you have to fight the cops outside. Not actually the entire thing.
