OfflineI don't know whether to get this or not.
I'm worried that it won't last very long and, using the Argos trade in thing, I only have one shot at getting a game. I haven't been following RDR at all so I don't think I want that, but maybe I should save my games in case they do the same offer for different games in the future (ie MNR, GT5 etc)?
Split/Second looks great but apparently there's only 11 tracks and the appeal of them fades once you've played them a couple of times.
I'm so confused.

It is a decent enough game mate, although you might find it a little samey-samey. If you are trying to decide between buying Split Second or Modnation then you have to get Modnation racers for definate 100%. ![]()

OfflineDammit I hate peeps in online with a 10 star car against a 5 star car (me) I agree with Raen's article and cc_star's comments about this online rank. Really annoying for someone who has done just 1 episode and bought the damn unlocks. It ruins the game :( (Where is the experience in that?)
Would anyone like to have a wee fun at this in puublic match? I hope we can get the meets it's brilliant. Add me on PSN with TSA Split/Second Velocity and challenge me ![]()

Well i got to online form 1 within 20-25 races with a say 5 star car against those 10 star cars. most of them just driving like they''re drunk or something or don''t know which explosions do the most damage. only 4 trophies left
Beat the team 2: Revenge(
this one''s seriously hard i''ve spend more time trying to getting this one than getting to online form 1)
Great Explorer(Didn''t do those route changer power plays a lot but it''ll come)
Perfection(Only 2 events left, 1 bonus round and the airstrike event in episode 5)
Leading the Way(Only Episode 12 bonus round left, just can''t seem to beat the helicopter in time)

S/S in my opinion but if online play is a priority then Blur a better recommendation.
Agreed, but I have yet to get an online race with the game. I sat for twenty minutes twice in a public lobby yesterday waiting for players to arrive and nothing doing. It takes an age for the lobby to actually set up and then nobody joins….really good game, but I hope that I am not restricted to offline playing as I have been so far.

Split/Second has an awesome career mode with more jaw dropping moment than nearly all other games I've played, kept me on the edge of my seat from the first moment to the last, the graphics are great the sense of speed once you get past the halfway point and unlock some faster cars is second to none… I'm still playing it trying to improve my positions in races I didn't come first in as I try to unlock even more cars.
Online its in a different league, I've had a couple of meetups with TSA peeps and its an amazing laugh, also in the public lobbies playing with randoms is great as no one dicks about they just get on & do what the game is supposed to rather than ruin it for others
The only thing I've heard about Blur from people who've bought it is that the single player is average and the online is broken with more often than not, a failure to connect.
If you loved Burnout 3: Takedown & Burnout Revenge on the PS2 then I'd say Split/Second is the spiritual successor

@CC yeah the career mode is awesome and they have got the difficulty level blindingly perfect…some of those Detonator events have you winning them with hundredth's of a second to spare on a perfect lap…well, me anyway lol. I am thoroughly enjoying the career mode and unlocking new cars…only one left to buy now ;) I would just like to try the game online but as yet have been unsuccessful in that venture.

Just managed to get the three online rating level trophies for S/S ie. get an online rating of 1. The car that I used (and placed 1st or 2nd in nearly all races was the Ryback Firestorm…totally ace car that you will unlock by getting 1st place in all of the Bonus rounds…at least I presume that is how it is won because the last event that I had left to win was Episode 12 Bonus Air Revenge event and this unlocked two cars for me…the Firestorm being one of them and the other was a Banana on wheels driving on ice called the Elite GT12 (won by placing 1st in all 72 events).
So there you go, the best car for online racing IMO of course is the Ryback Firestorm.

For the final 30 levels I used the Elite GT12, before that it was the Corbretti Pursuit or the Hanzo FX320. The level 1 online turned out to be surprisingly easy in the end.
Well, I found the Elite GT12 as the fastest car in the game but very twitchy and not very strong, the Hanzo FX350 was the best handling car but not excitingly fast, but an excellent compromise car is the Ryback Firestorm with it's decent handling, Speed and strength….basically the best all rounder.
As you say though mate towards the end or last 15 levels or so it did seem easy…probably due to confidence having gotten so far up the rankings. ![]()

Offlinei just started playing it again after a brief hiatus to play other things like Dragon Age again, surprisingly I found the Coyote a nice all rounder if you have yet to finish career (like me) I was winning fairly often in a full lobby (1st time since release day) but after a while I was getting people rank 30 or better with GT12's piling on me and kept losing my form, and as such when I put the game on again my form will be 99 again :(

I have now got the platinum trophy for this game and thought that I would post a list of the cars that I used to get some of the more difficult trophies.
Beat the Team…………………………..Ryback Firestorm
Beat the Team II………………………..Cobretti Pursuit (Most difficult and frustrating trophy in the game)
Convoy (secret trophy)……………….Elite 440 Special
All online trophies………………………..Ryback Firestorm ( Some people prefer the Elite GT12…too twitchy for me though)
And finally this is not a trophy but for the Air Revenge Bonus event in Episode 12 I used the Cyclone RS as you need loads of drift to build up the power bar and Down the Helicopter within 1:45.
Hope this helps some of you, I just look forward now to the game being added to the TSA meets list. ![]()
