The third of (hopefully) many installments of TSA's Verdict. Please answer the poll and give your opinion on the game. What is TSA's Verdict?

Poll:

A: I have The Saboteur, and I would recommend the game to others.

B: I have The Saboteur, but have some issues with it that would make me think before recommending it.

C: I would recommend people steer clear of this game.

D: I will buy The Saboteur when I can.

E: The Saboteur doesn't interest me.

My answer: B

Having just completed The Saboteur I can definately say that at the start of the game I was a little dubious as to whether I would complete it as it was a little bit bland but it certainly improves as the story moves on you do tend to get drawn in.

Pros:

Entertaining storyline with the use of stealth and disguise

Some great scenery of wartime France especially from some of the scenic viewpoints.

Loads of vehicles and weapons for all occassions

It costs £24.85 at Shopto.net

The best trophy description yet…pint and a shag

Cons:

Graphics seem a little PS2

The climbing of buildings that Sean has to do is a little tedious especially to reach some viewpoints

There are over 1400 Nazi targets that you have to destroy as side missions throughout the map (if you want to obtain the platinum trophy)

I will collect up poll results and take an average of the pros and cons and will present them in one post, on the weekend of the 13th.

My answer: A

The Saboteur has been getting lot of heat for being a rip off og many games and it's true that the game borrows lots of elements from other games, but I believe it does it pretty well and if you love sandbox games, then you are going to love The Saboteur.

Pros:

Pretty good voice acting, a fairly good story and beautiful surroundings in the game.

The gameplay is clever, as you can barge in with gun blazing, but you can also be VERY stealthy and while the AI isn't the smartest, it's pretty fun take down 20 enemies with the Viper SMG and they had no idea what hit them.

Lots of different freeplay events, it's fun driving around in a tank and blowing up enemy towers, aa guns, fuel depots and so on, while other tanks and planes are chasing you.

The black/white and colored graphics, to show which areas has been liberated are clever and works really well.

The nudity in the game are pretty well made and blends great in with the environment.

Cons:

Some of the textures used in certain places, are a bit rushed.

Climbing feels a bit slow, but you get used to it.

It's a long game to platinum, I did in just under 45 hours and i used some tricks to get it done.

The Saboteur is a 85% in my book and I can recommend it, specially if you like sandbox games :)

A very very important point that I forgot to mention about the game which uses an autosave feature. The autosave only works after you complete storyline missions, not after freeroam side missions, so if you freeroam and destroy 50 or so ambient freeroam Nazi targets and do not manually save the game then you will have to get those targets again…as I found out the hard way. Always manually save after blowing up freeroam Nazi targets before exiting the game. ;)

I quite like The Sabotuer

yes it has faults, but I found the game enjoyable enough to overlook them – I suppose it was because it didn't take itself to seriously

D

I got this game from LoveFilm right at the end of my free trial and loved it. It was so original and different from most generic war games, i loved being on 'the inside' rather than just assulting Nazi's with an invasion force.

Will deffinatly pick it up when i have enough money and can be sure i can play it.

-       Great scenery

Cons:

-       Graphics aren’t the best out there

-       Enemy AI, killing a Nazi and then driving with a car around the corner around a building and the alarm is gone

-       Insane amount of Freeplay events

This game is one of my favourite games in recent years. The huge amount of targets is actually one of the pros for me because they are the reason I wanted to keep playing. It did help that you could buy maps to reveal their locations, because finding them all on your own would have been near impossible.

The only con I can come up with are the graphics and since I don't care about graphics, this game was perfect for me.

I am going to give this game a B

I have not played it much.  I got to the part where you meet the dodgy traders and then nick the bottle of champers.  The game save is protected so I lost it when I got a slim.

Pros

The black / white to coloured areas works well and is a great idea

Good story

Lots to do

Cons

The begining is really slow to get going (that's why I haven't played it again)

The graphics aren't the best

I'm gonna say B.

This game is average at best.  Whilst its good fun and plays well, its flawed and lacks ambition.

Pros

 - Well balanced. Vehicles handle as expected. Devlin has a solid amount of health and ammo doesnt often run out.

 - The perks system is a great idea – if poorly concieved (it was possible to complete many perks before it seemed natural to the prgression of the story)

- Large number of things to do and doesnt become repetitive.

- Ability to be either stealthy or go loud is done well, better than most games.

Cons

 - The story is slow and uninteresting. Character development is poor and voice acting is painful.

 - The black and white effect is a novelty and whilst a good idea at first – becomes irritating as it is more difficult to see.

 - Climbing is slow and laboured.

 - Travelling around France is slow, maybe could have done with air vehicles.

Overall Id say 5/10 and I wouldnt want to pay more than £20.
