If you’ve got Linux installed on your PS3, www.streammygames.com has a rather smart-sounding little program that can stream any game on your PC (so long as it can handle it) to your PS3. How you ask? Well, I don’t know.
StreamMyGames is a unique service that allows a Windows XP or Vista PC to stream any PC game that it can play (that is, if you’re PC can’t handle Gears of War, then you still can’t play it) across a home network to any compatible Linux installed system, which includes the PS3, lower-end PCs that wouldn’t normally be able to handle the game and laptops.
Consider the possibilities of this; if you’ve got a pretty good PC, you could play Gears of War, Crysis, and pretty much any ‘360 exclusive’ game through your PS3 because they’re mostly going to be on the PC too. Sure, you’ll have to use a USB mouse and keyboard, but you’re still playing it through your PS3. Now it sounds intriguing, does it not?
Well, I intend to download Ubuntu and install it on my PS3 soon (probably tomorrow), so as soon as I’m able to try it out, you’ll get a review of sorts – I’m sure you’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting for it.
