According to CrunchGear today, Microsoft is set to upstage Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference by announcing a Blu-ray Xbox 360, which is apparently to be released in time for Christmas.
What’s the story? Well, Microsoft have been back and forth over Blu-ray a bit recently, after having lost the HD war with their now-dead HD-DVD format. If they’re planning on adding a Blu-ray drive to every 360 in six months time, that’s going to be one hell of a lot more Blu-ray capable machines on the market, which is only going to be good news.
Well, possibly bad news for PS3 sales, but you get the idea. We’ll clarify this either way tomorrow.
