Gearbox, the company currently developing titles “Borderlands” and “Aliens Colonial Marines” sat down to a cheerful interview with Eurogamer earlier this month to talk about their upcoming games. Randy Pitcher, President and co-founder of Gearbox has already claimed that they’re secretly working on a “big” title, so rumours are still flying around. One of those is Halo 4.
Gearbox worked with Bungie to bring the original Halo to PC. Bungie themselves revealed that “Halo 3: ODST” and “Halo: Reach” will be their final entries into the series. So is it possible that Gearbox may pick up the series after Bungie? EuroGamer seem to think so. At the end of the interview, Eurogamer asked Pitcher whether or not he and his team were also working on a Halo 4. Here is his response:
Pitchford: We can’t talk about that
Eurogamer: That’s not a no, though.
Pitchford: I appreciate why you’re asking.
Eurogamer: That’s not a no.
Pitchford: Haha! You got any other curveballs for me?
Eurogamer: I don’t think it was much of a curveball. It’s quite a straight question…
Pitchford: It is a straight question, and it is fair. But you understand my… [recording terminated].
So it’s possible then. Whether or not you’re a fan of the Halo franchise, it’s definitely one which can be expected to have its fair share of milking, in a similar manner as the Metal Gear series. Gearbox’s works seem to be promising so far, so if Halo 4 were to come to fruition, we could expect a very well produced title. Nevertheless, this is still just a rumour, and based on the ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’ of one man. Take this as just another rumour, but a very possible one indeed.
