Good news for those with a penchant for Japanese-themed violence as, according to Sega’s official blog, Yakuza 4 (Ryū ga Gotoku 4 in its native Japan) will be released in the West in the spring of next year. The fact that we’re getting a release at all is testament to Sega’s trust in the gaming masses who, after a public outcry for a Western release of Yakuza 3, went out and actually bought the game in droves.
Using the same engine and voice-actors from Yakuza 3, Sega’s CS1 Team have managed to create yet another deadly tale of intrigue and crime-filled smackdown in record-breaking time. The new outing does depart from the traditional path to some degree, however, with heavily inked Kiryu Kazuma now joined with three other playable characters.
Yakuza 3 was a riot of fun and exploration. Not to mention mini-games. We’re quietly confident the next installment will follow suit – even if that suit has ridiculous collars.
