SEGA Confirm Dreamcast Ports

Remember all those rumours about Dreamcast games heading to PS3 and Xbox 360 – Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure?  They were true, with SEGA themselves confirming the information.

“Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi will be the first two classics made available,” teases the press release, “with Sonic leading the pack in Autumn 2010 for the 11th anniversary of the launch of the Dreamcast in Europe.”

SEGA say the games are based on the Dreamcast versions, retaining the gameplay but “allowing a new audience to discover it for the very first time,” with new features including “high resolution visuals and surround sound.”

In addition, expect online leader boards, Achievements and Trophies.

“The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming” commented Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe.

“There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital market place. We’re very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems.”

  2. Two awesome games (I lost many an hour to Crazy Taxi on PS2) with improved visuals and Trophies?

This may just be the best news I’ve heard all day.

  3. i can remember Crazy Taxi on my Gamecube (yes, people did buy them), great game, loved the style and cant wait for a modern version!

  4. CHU CHU ROCKET !!!!!!! Yessssss, oh it better be included or else I’m gonna boot Sonic in the kidney .

    • I’ve heard nothing but good things about that game…what do you actually do in it?

      • You have a dozen or so mice that need to get from one place to another, sounds pretty straight forward….. It’s not. They all move in one direction, in single file and it’s your job to place direction markers so they can avoid all dangers or make it to their goal in as little movements or bare minimum of markers as you can. There’s like 300 levels and it just gets more and more difficult as you go. I played it at a mates house and completed it in one straight go ! He did spike my cup of brew with Ritalin though so I was wired to the moon check it out on YouTube, I’ll post a McLink when I get home.

      • just youtube’d it, the way you were describing it made it sound like Lemmings, this actually looks pretty crazy! I’m guessing it’s best played in four player local multiplayer?

    • Still got mt DC in the loft, jus can’t be arsed to play it. I do remember Res evil: code veronica being absolutely sweeet. Did pirate software kill the DC? I have loads of that too :)

    • YES!
Can’t wait for Chu Chu Rocket, it’s a massively awesome game! We should have a TSA tourney for it.

      • Oh yeah ! That’s top TSA priority when Sega start uploading.
        @’ The Jay’s ‘, we’ll be the first 4 player !

      • didnt sega give it away for free at one point, i seem to remember a buddy getting it for free from somewhere

      • It’s built in I’m sure, either that or it was just bundled. Actually I remeber a case so I’m positive it was a bundle.

      • it was the first online DC game, DC owners sent off for it and got it for free. I still have my copy, wicked game.

    • That’s a very specific target for a kick! He’ll wee blood for a week! Chu Chu was cool, Powerstone would be welcome and obviously REZ HD damnit! XB360 has had it for yonks grrrrrr.

  5. That is cool

I hope EA are listening, we want HD Road Rash! (but with the original music as the PSP version is borked)

    • I’d like to add – REZ, REZ, REZ, REZ, REZ, REZ, Ikaruga, Ikaruga, Ikaruga, Ikaruga, Ikaruga!!!

      Kinda catchy that…

      • Ikaruga was awesome, brilliant soundtrack too. Can still recall it vividly.

  6. Wooo! I loved my Dreamcast! I bought it for $1.22 (all the money I had in my pocket hehe) because my buddy thought it was broken. Luck to show that the laser was stuck lol! A game THAT NEEDS to be released is one of the best fighting games I’ve ever played. It was called Project Justice (Justice Gakuen). If I’m not mistaken, it was released in Europe as Project Jutice: Rival Schools 2. Gah, just thinking about it wants me to plug in the ol’ DC and relive the memories! ^^

  7. Lets get some Shenmue action on the PSN then.

    • YES! I was just looking down the comments thinking “I hope I don’t need to be the first to mention Shenmue!

    • Shenmue shenmue shenmue. Now. i must have it now this instant this very second. sega you must spend all of your time and resources to make this happen

      • so long as it’s japanese language with subs – if I ever hear that monotonous fool who played Ryu in the UK release say “I’m looking for Charlie, He, has, A, BLACK, leather, JACKET and a TATTOO” again I’ll cry.

    • Yes please, I finally can play it through the End this time. ;)

  8. Phantasy star online please!
so we can forget about the mess called universe
