Virgin Gaming Launched

With so much going on over the E3 week, how do you stand out from the crowd? If you’re Richard Branson, the answer is to roll up to the expo in a fully armoured truck with $1,000,000 in cash.

With information about the return of Virgin already having been discovered, the official launch of Virgin Gaming saw Branson arrive with the co-founders of – William Levy and Zack Zeldin. They were also joined by the new CEO of Virgin Gaming – Rob Segal.

With big prizes and cash payouts totaling $1,000,000 to give away over the next 12 months, Virgin Gaming is set to run various gaming comeptitions for people of all skill levels. Richard Branson stated:

Gamers want something new, something interactive and something fun. Virgin Gaming is just that – access to play the best games in super competitive tournaments with anyone in the world and win the biggest prizes and the most rewards…

He welcomed gamers from “novice to expert” to visit the website and join the Virgin community.

Partnerships with key publishers are set to be announced over the coming months but Virgin Gaming is already well under way with challenges for games such as Halo 3, FIFA 10, Madden NFL 10, Fight Night Round 4 and ModNation Racers, with titles such Street Fighter IV and either Rock Band or Guitar Hero on the way.

  1. No Killzone 2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 games yet? Bugger.

    • i’d be so very tempted to enter if those were up. i’d have my ass kicked at battlefield but i reckon i could get reasonable far in Killzone

    • Right? I haven’t got a single game listed above.

  2. Oh my, that REALLY is the logo.
    Terrible, horrible logo.
Still, pretty cool giving away all that money. (for us)

  3. All that money is in dollars. Does that mean this is an exclusive US thing AGAIN?

    • No, I signed up.

      • For what?

      • Errr…Virgin Gaming! Register as a member and you can begin to enter stuff.

      • I meant which game.

      • lol Oh sorry! I haven’t actually looked at the Tournies yet but ModNation is the only game I own and I have yet to spend more than half an hour on it so I will need to do some practice.

  4. I don’t get it, is it just a challange website and not a gaming company at all then!

I thought it would be something similar to OnLive’s deal with BT

    • Yeah, no games being made, just competitions.

    • Gastos has it spot on. I think I mentioned in the Game News forum that it’s all about gambling online (in a different way to the likes of or whatever the hell it is so I can see an interesting angle on things). Sadly, Virgin Games aren’t about to get into making games again; not in the way we were hoping.

  5. None of the games i own :(

    • Modnation Racers is coming soon, but all the rest are sports games, which is alright if you’re inclined that way.

    • same here. They don’t even have MW2.

    BEST SF EVER!!!!

    • SF4 is coming soon it says
Ive all signed up and ready to gamble some points, need to do some research into it though, Like how are they gonna prove who the winner of each game was

      • Apparently the games they have, have online stats, so they’ll get them from there.. somehow.

  7. This is kind of cool, if you’re quite skilled at games you could potentially consider making a living out of this.

  8. Kiddie games of course. -_-

  9. I was hoping the Virgin Gaming logo released a few weeks ago was fake, and it turns out it isn’t
