DC Joins PSN Digital Comics Service

Previously viewed as a massive black hole in the service, content published by DC Comics has finally joined the PSN Digital Comic space. From today, content featuring iconic characters such as Batman, Superman and Green Lantern will feature alongside the ranks of other comic-book franchises from publishers such as Marvel and IDW.

The first batch of DC content available today includes such books as Batman: Hush, Green Lantern: Rebirth and Fables: Legends in Exiles. In terms of rolling out the service to other countries, Pete Scott of SCEE’s Digital Comics Team assures us that such expansionary endeavours are still exceptionally high on their agenda. A PS3 reader to enable non-PSP owners to avail of the service and read comics on their TV is also still something they’re looking at.

The new content comes at a great time, with the PSP recently receiving a new and improved digital comics reader. The full release notes and feature list regarding the new reader can be found here but, in a nutshell, the updated version allows you to delete comics straight from your PSP, categories by genre, the ability to now read right to left (useful for all you manga-philes out there), while also overhauling the database and hence making everything perform faster and slicker than before.

Here’s a nice video preview of the new content.
