AR Tonelico Qoga Knell of Ar Ciel Announced

NIS America have announced that the final chapter in the Ar tonelico series will be coming to North America and Europe in spring 2011, entitled ‘AR Tonelico Qoga Knell of Ar Ciel’ or as it it will be known in my house, ‘that Japanese game with loads of random letters in the title.’

The game will be a PS3 exclusive and has been developed and published in Japan by Banpresto Co., Ltd. In a unique twist the game is an RPG but to use magic you enter a rhythm based sequence. You also get to delve in to the subconscious mind of your character. Deep. Time for some extremely lazy (hey, it’s Saturday) cut ‘n’ paste from the press release which detail the features of the game.

  • Action Battle – Unlike the previous Ar tonelico series, the latest title incorporates an action based combat system. You will run and attack as if you are playing an fighting game or action game.
  • Song Magic – During combat song magic can be used by making key button pressing according to the rhythm of the music. If your rhythm is good the stronger the magic becomes.
  • Cosmosphere -Ar tonelico features a revolutionary system that combines character development with skill acquisition. By diving into the Reyvateil’s subconscious world, one gets to know the character of the team member better, while acquiring new spells.
  • Multiple Story Paths – Depending on how you progress through the game your outcome will change. There is over 2 hours worth of ending for extreme replay value.

  2. Erm day one purchase for me possibly…maybe…. probably not

  3. sounded good until “rhythm based sequence”. :(

  4. of course it’s not a bunch of random letters! Nothing could be THAT random!

  5. Great news imo, Ar Tonelico 3 was awesome (or so I’ve heard), but sadly didnt make it to either NA or EU. I don’t know about the song magic stuff though, sounds kinda weird…
And yeah, the name is probably the strangest name for a videogame I’ve heard in a while, but I think its charming lol

  6. Pon pon pata pon!

JRPG meets rythm game is an interesting idea.

Haven’t played any of the Ar Tonelico series, but anything with NISA stamped on it is wort having a look at since at least it isn’t another 3d shooter. I’ll have wait to decide until I’ve seen some gameplay videos though.

  7. What do they hope to achieve of such a ridiculous name similar to people of Outer continent but nevermind that its coming to EUROPE!!!!!

    Party?
