Crysis 2 PS3 Demo Removed From The PSN

The PS3 demo of Crysis 2 has been the subject of much debate lately when compared to to its Xbox 360 and PC counterparts.

Well, that’s not an issue anymore as EA have pulled it from the PSN. An EA statement reads as follows:

“Thank you for your interest in the PlayStation 3 version of the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo.

Though many gamers have had a great experience playing the demo, we are aware that others have been experiencing server connection delays.

We’ve identified the root cause and have decided to close the PS3 demo in the next 24 hours to ensure all issues are resolved when the game launches next week. Our priority is to ensure that the final product is flawless at launch.”

  1. “Close the PS3 demo in the next 24 hours”
As in, shut it down for good? I’ve not even had chance to try it yet!

    • Same here, that can’t be the real reason though. I think they’ve finally realised that everyone saying the 360 version looks superior was right and they’ve taken it down to save face.

      • this is a classic from EA. Everyone knows its not looking as good, and then they say we dare you to find the difference. Then 100 articles arrived clearly showing the differences.

Now EA have done this, it means I definitely wont bother with this if they have issues in performance and servers.

    • I didn’t really have an opinion on Crysis 2 before, but if I’ve just wasted 1.5GB of my download cap on something that is redundant within 48hrs then that will have a big negative effect for me. PR backfire methinks.

    • Downloaded and tried to play got about 10 mins of play before I was disconnected, I was of thinking about getting this game not sure now.

  2. “Our priority is to ensure that the final product is flawless at launch.”

I very doubt that will happen. No game is flawless at launch, especially something this big.

  3. Hmm, yeah I tried to play the demo yesterday and just couldn’t connect – not really a very good sign… Mind you, I would have much preferred a single player demo in any case.

  4. I pretty sure a lot of people have now been put off by the demo. I only got into 1 game and was disconnected a minute in. How about testing the bloody thing before uploading to the store. TheLoneSteven is not amused and will now drink his coffee.

    • If you’d stop changing your name you might not be so lonely!! aarrrgggghhhhhh!

      • I haven’t changed my name for a month now. My next name will be sir Steven of the Solid of the Lone order.:P Besides there is no rule to say that we can’t change our names every few weeks. I shall not change. Besides, it not like i’m offending or annoying anyone. But i will change my name when i get really tired of being called TheLoneSteven or when FinalFantasy 7 gets remade.:OP

      • lol!

I’d just like to know how you manage to change your name all the time?

      • Your profile might be a good place to look :)

      • You mean my profile page where my username is locked and unavailable for editing?!

  5. i was wondering where it had got to when i went searching for it last night!
I don’t see how removing the demo due to connection issues can help them resolve these issues for the games launch any quicker than if they left the demo up there

  6. The PS3 version’s a bit of a joke now, isn’t it?

    • It is for me, they haven’t handled their publicity very well, it has gone from day one purchase to bargain bin maybe for me im afraid

      • Lol. Hopefully the price will drop quite quick. Look what happened to to aliens versus predator after they cocked that demo up. It was down to £20 within about 3 weeks :-D

    • The ps3 version of most multiplatform games are

      • Shut up xbox fanboy. 99.9% of the time they are exactly the same.

[Moderate your language and tone, please. He’s entitled to an opinion. You’re entitled to disagree. Telling people to “shut up” is not tolerated here – Kovacs]

      • I seriously doubt that and I don’t even own a 360…

      • I wouldnt call my self a 360 fanboy seeing as though i have a PS3 and not an xbox…that alright?

      • Monkey Spoon, Moakesice is correct alot of multi-platform PS3 games tend to suffer more than its other console counterpart..

    • It’s all a cunning ploy for Red Nose Day

      • I would love to give Lenny Henry a proper Red nose :-)

    • This is odd, I thought Crysis 2 was PS3 exclusive to begin with, surely it should be the superior game, very disappointing. Will reserve judgement for the full version but unlikely to buy now. It annoys me how poorly the PS3 is treated by multiformat developers. If ps3 LA noire is worse than xbox version then i might just give up.

      • Effing annoying how multi plat games hold the PS3 back. Its like sending a pro boxer into a ring and tying his hands behind his back.

Note to DEVS build on ps3 first – make it epic – cut back all the good stuff – pop it onto a dvd and let the green team be annoyed for a change.

I dont care about this that much though as I think EA WILL make sure the end product is pretty much BANG ON.

Its smell like another Smear Campaign to me but lets see how the PS3 version fairs…..

Anyways, who needs it – Killzone 3 is above and beyond….

  7. This demo might actually end up having a negative effect of Crysis 2 PS3 sales, will be interesting to see how it does…

    • Could probably swap “might actually” with “will probably”…

  8. Glad I love Killzone!

My bro has a few Crysis Games for his high end PC, they are pretty swish!

  9. Thankfully the multiplayer aspect is bottom of my list for any game so I shall be buying or not buying regardless of the demo.

  10. They should have released a sp demo, i would have downloaded that.
