BloodRayne Is Back

Majesco Entertainment have just announced BloodRayne: Betrayal, a “full-scale digital game” that’ll be appearing on Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer, via the respective digital download marketplaces.

“Based on the best-selling vampire game franchise,” says the press release, “BloodRayne: Betrayal stars the beautiful yet lethal dhampir anti-heroine as she fights and feeds in a bloody new hack ‘n slash adventure.”

The game is being developed by WayForward, who have worked on mainly DS and PSP conversions over the last few years.

“It’s been a long time since Rayne captivated players with her bold mix of brutality and beauty, and fans have been hounding us to release another BloodRayne installment,” said Jesse Sutton, CEO, Majesco Entertainment.

“We are excited to once again partner with the creative and committed team at WayForward to bring Rayne back. BloodRayne: Betrayal delivers the action-packed experience franchise fans have been waiting for in a digital format that’s also accessible for new players unfamiliar with Rayne’s over-the-top, stylized gameplay.”

  1. It never Rayne’s but it’s poor.

  2. Quite enjoyed BR2 if I recall, but it has definately aged ALOT! Hopefully this game is different enough to spark my interest

  3. From what I remember from some Mag dvd it didn’t look great.

  4. I used to love Bloodrayne on PS2 (lets not mention the movies eh?) & I got all excited when I read the title of this piece, only to find out that it will be a downloadable title & more than likely a 2D Side Scroller. Boo.

I wanted a disc based game (we don’t all have 500GB HDD’s you know!) that was something akin to the last two games. I had all but bought it until I read those two items.

In fact, can we just have HD remakes of the first two with trophies please? That would be nice.

    • Sweet Jebus the Movie was bad.

      • Yeah, unfortunately I had the ‘pleasure’ of sitting through BOTH of the movies as the wife went & bought the second thinking it was the sort of thing I would like – Usually she would be right, but way off on that one! Bless.

Bizarrely enough though, although the second one actually has even more bizarre premise than the first or the games (set in the wild west!), it actually ends up being slightly better! It’s still awful though.

    • Lol those were some bad movies, especially the one with Michel Madsen and Michelle Rodriguez half heartedly trying to act in what seemed like a soft core porn movie.
I remember the idea of Rayne was cool but the games never really managed to pull it off (no pun intended).

  5. From the movies I thought Rayne was already pretty 2D

  6. Wayforward did Batman The Brave and The Bold on the Wii and DS which was a great game for fans of the series. Their 2D artwork is superb so it’ll be great to see what they come up with on the PS3/360.

  7. Bloody Roar next plz
