Capcom has announced that Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be released as both a disc based product and as DLC. Yoshinori Ono, the game’s producer, has been teasing the release of AE for quite some time. As you may remember, a trailer confirming the DLC was leaked last week. If you already own Super Street Fighter IV you can upgrade to AE on June 7th for $14.99 (1200 MS points). The retail version is set to release on June 24th in Europe and on June 28th in North America for the PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version coming in July.
SSFIV: Arcade Edition adds four playable characters to the roster – Yun and Yang (from Street Fighter III) and Evil Ryu and Oni. The DLC also tweaks the balance of the game for the entire roster. Some of the modifications are significant, while others are a bit minor.
The Replay Channel will also receive a much needed (and often requested) upgrade. In addition to being able to send replays to friends, a new “Elite Channel” will allow you to watch matches featuring players with at least 3000 player points. The most useful addition is being able to search players by name so that you can subscribe to their channel. This will make stalking high level players quite easy.
