Aperture Science Website Counting Down, “The Time Is Near, Humans”

Over the past few days there has been a hugely elaborate game of cat and mouse going on with Valve and its fans. Mysterious pictures fragments, codes, co-ordinates, pictures embedded into other games – but what is it all leading up to?

Well the Aperture Science website has now begun to countdown, ending at 5pm tonight UK time. There is also a message for us humans:

“You have done well, humans. Very well. Acceptably well, even.

Not as well as robots would have performed in your places, I should point out. But above my expectations regardless. Irish and cynic especially have executed feats of logical divination well beyond what I thought any human capable of. I’m half-convinced they’re A.I. themselves. (If anyone happens to be near them right now, don’t let on you’re reading this. Now: try to remove their face plates and report back to me.)

The time is near, humans. But it is not here yet. Tomorrow you will be given the final test. Then it will be entirely in your hands when I am freed.”

Is this the best hype-train ever?

  1. Squeee. So close. Most highly anticipated game of the year for me.

  2. You guys have got something special planned for portal 2, haven’t you?

    • Oi, hang on a minute;

“IRISH and cynic especially have executed feats of logical divination well beyond what I thought any human capable of. I’m half-convinced they’re A.I. themselves.”

      Who’s bright idea was this?!!

      • I’m GLaD you think it’s bright.

      • They are members of the IRC that were working on the ARG, some of them have even been taken over by GLaDOS…

  3. I really want this game. Now.

  4. Humm, interesting….

  5. Wheres my evil cat?..

  6. Have been following the ARG all week, its crazy…

My favourite part was the co-ordinates in Holland, some guy went there, found a bag of potatoes with a sign to look up and there was something up a pole, he climbed the pole and took pictures of some code and ciphers.

The next day surveillance video appeared, someone had been filming him doing this. Then after a while people realised that a green garbage truck driving past while he had been climbing the pole then had more clues and ciphers on it!

    Insane…

  7. Y’know, despite it’s considerable poopness, I’m going to have to crack out my PS3 copy of the Orange Box agin.
