Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Game On The Way

Hothead has announced that they are developing a game based on The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Not much else has been released, and that includes the platforms the game will be appearing on.

We contacted a Vogon Poet Master for comment, and he had the following to say:

“Oh freddled gruntbuggly, thy micturations are to me, as plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee. Groop I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes. And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles, Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon, see if I don’t!”

We hoped you survived that with all limbs intact.

  1. And on towel day of all days!

    • YES! Someone who honors this sacred day. Talk like a Pirate Day can’t come quick enough!

  2. Yay!…. ok I know this is way old so I wouldn’t have a clue but yeah I just watched the Movie.

    • Get reading the books.. Miles better. ;-)
I’m not a big book reader myself, but got hooked on these.

      • Yes. Read the books, no amount of praise can adequately convey Douglas Adams’ brilliance. Your mind will be blown, and not only from the Pan Galactic Gargleblasters ;)

      • Yes. Read the books, no amount of praise can adequately convey Douglas Adams’ brilliance. Your mind will be blown, and not only from the Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters ;)

      • Damn, Pan Galactic double-post fail, sorry.

  3. Hitchhikers’ are absolutely brilliant. Had my crying with laughter reading them :’) Quite a lot to live up to.

  4. Hmm, I’m wary of how this might turn out. As long as they give it enough time I suppose. And time is an illusion. Lunchtime, doubly so.

  5. Superb, I wonder if it will adapt the story at all like all the other iterations. I’m expecting a point and click adventure along the Back to the Future lines.

    • I’m sure it will alter some stuff to make it work but, unlike most stories, that is actually the right way to do Hitchikers.

If it was Telltale then I’d be pretty sure of a point and click but being hothead it might be more along the style of Deathspank. Actually I think the humour of that game would work brilliantly with a Hitchiker game

      • Agreed, Deathspank is superb and certainly holds a similar humour to the source material.

    • That’d be the only way it would work.. Or like the Doctor who adventure games from the BBC website.

  6. Amazing. Here’s hoping it’s a trilogy in five parts.

So long and thanks for the fish guys.

  7. Bet it won’t be as good as the original game!
    /aging cynic

  8. I remember the text adventure game – in fact I believe you can play a version of it online. H2G is my all-time favourite books and Douglas Adams holds a special place in my heart.

If they can capture a smidgen of Douglas’ humour it will be a hit with me, whatever they have up their sleeve.

The most important thing is to stay positive … Don’t Panic!

  9. Let’s hope that Simon Jones is involved in some way.

  10. Here’s hoping this is based on the books & not the movie :)
Btw, trilogy is in 6 parts, not 5 ;) the colfer book was written with the Adams estates blessing & is a good read, fitting nicely within the hitchhikers universe.

    • I’d forgotten about the 6th book…must remember to buy that someday. Always thought they should have ended it at the 4th in some ways but I love ’em all.

    • Yeah, please not the ‘movie’! I actually paid to see that and was looking forward to it. Now it makes me angry to remember it, just like I Am Legend with Smith.

      • Oh it was way worse than I Am Legend. At least that could have stood as a film in it’s own right, nowhere near as good as the book, but what adaptation ever is? Whereas the hitchikers film was just terrible on almost every level.
The one thing I would like to see from the film though, is Stephen Fry as the voice of the guide. Thought that was some great casting
