Sony has just announced that PlayStation Home will be streaming the biggest fighting game tournament of the year. This brings the world of competitive fighting games to the homes of millions of PS3 owners around the world.
PS Home will be streaming the event from beginning to end, starting on July 29th until July 31st. If you can’t make it to the Rio Resort in Las Vegas, PlayStation Home will be the place to be. You’ll get to see competitors like Justin Wong, Daigo Umehara, Floe, Hello Kitty Ricky, Sabin, Clockwork, and Michaelangelo showing off their skills in all the top fighting games.
There are five games being played at EVO 2011: Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Tekken 6, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. This is the first EVO to ever have an official tournament for Mortal Kombat, which is definitely great news for NetherRealm.
Sony is also providing some neat exclusives for checking out the stream in the Home Theatre. You’ll receive a limited edition EVO t-shirt and a fight stick companion item. Everyone that watches EVO on Sunday will receive a replica EVO trophy for your personal Home space.
This is seriously a huge announcement. It just goes to show you how popular fighting games have become. This will serve as a great introduction to the competitive fighting game scene for the millions that visit PlayStation Home. It’s going to be awesome.

Maybe the Home-A-phobes will stop. It’s getting better. Just slowly. It’s nice to find Home finding something it is good at.

I see what you have done there, Clever.
Sympozium
Is it available in Europe?
Delriach
The announcement was only in the US but that shouldn’t stop you from visiting Home with a US account.

The live streaming of e3 was a disaster, so I hope Sony bring their A-game with this one.
Delriach
When EVO comes around, I’m going to make a post about it and provide links to the streams so you can watch it on your PC as well. I got you covered ;P

Cool

Sweet, much appriciated Delriach.
I thankfully had my PC ready to go during E3 as soon as nothing happened on Home. Let’s just say I’ve never been in a theatre where everyone is asking questions and raging before. But I do hope it will work because it’s one of the few things that makes me want to use Home.
Davante

What time would that be in GMT?
Delriach
Good question. I believe those times in the post are Pacific time zone. GMT is 8 hours ahead I think.
I’m absolutely horrible with time zones or else I’d help you out better. I get owned by them so easily ;(
