BlazBlue On Vita Has New Content, Coming To PS3 And 360

The PS Vita version of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II is more than just a port. This week’s Famitsu reveals that the game, now titled BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, will feature two new characters, new gameplay modes, and it’s also coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This new version of Continnuum Shift II will be based on the upcoming update for the arcade version of the game. It will include balance changes and two new characters: Relius Clover and his wife Ignis. The PS Vita version will have new story elements and full network capabilities, which is a first for the series on a handheld platform. You’ll also be able to share save data with the PS3 version.

Not much is known about the console ports. Earlier this year Arc System Works updated BlazBlue: Continuum Shift to Continuum Shift II so it’s certainly possible that this could be released as DLC. We’ll have to wait until more details are announced to know for sure.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend will be available for the PlayStation Vita in Japan this winter.

  1. Ha, it’s more than a port, but then the new version is then coming to PS3/360 so then it is a port………..

    • Repetition of ‘then’

    • My logic is that it was originally a port of CSII for the Vita with some new features. Turns out it’s based on an arcade update, so it’s the latest version of BlazBlue… which is being ported to consoles.

It’s one big confusing mess but it kind of made sense to me. lol.

      • Oh yes, it makes sense, it’s just very odd. This is the 3rd release of this game too? Sounds like they could have made the improvements as DLC rather than a third retail release

      • There was BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for PS3, PSP, and 360. Then Continuum Shift the year after, which was actually a sequel (had a new story and everything). That game was updated to Continuum Shift II via a free update. It was also released on the PSP and 3DS. Now there’s Continuum Shift Extend for Vita. It hasn’t been revealed if the PS3/360 version will be DLC or retail.

  2. This is still a series I haven’t checked out yet. There is nearly always a copy of CalamityTrigger (spelling? lol) for about 10quid in my local blockbuster but I haven’t taken the plunge yet.
