Zelda: Four Swords For DSiWare Gets A Release Date

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Zelda series, Nintendo will be releasing The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords free of charge. The game will be available to download starting on September 28th for the Nintendo DSi and 3DS. [Update: According to the press release, the download will only be available until February 20th, 2012.]

The downloadable version of The Four Swords is not just a port of the Gameboy Advanced title. New stages from Link’s past have been added to the game. Nintendo also added a single player mode, which is a feature the original title was missing.

  1. Yes! Brilliant.

Annoyed it’s not native to the 3DS (or at least windowed) but it’s free, and the new stuff sounds amazing.

    • Wait – is this still early code? Most of the time there’s no shadows. I hate games with no shadows – even just the wee circles are good enough.

      Love the NES/GB sections!

      • wow, that’s attention to detail I would have never noticed lol

      • It’s the reason I can’t play the PSP Tony Hawk games without moaning – no shadows on the skaters. Annoys the hell out of me when just a wee circle will do fine.

      • I’m going to have to check if THUG2 Remix had shadows on the PSP…
Seems there were shadows but only on some screenshots I just looked up… I never noticed.

      • I dont know why. But you guys talking about it really makes me want to go play Tony Hawks on PS2 again..

  2. This actually looks brilliant, its just a shame I only know one person with a DSi or 3DS, and even then I doubt he’d have any interest in this!

    • Good thing this has a single player mode then. Looks really good and love the A Link to the Past level. It’s my favourite Zelda game.

  3. Really? The DSi as well?
Looks like I’ll have something non-Pokémon related to play then!
