DC Universe Online ‘Free to Play’ Releases

What should you be doing today if you are both bored and poor? You should be downloading Sony Online Entertainment’s superhero spectacular, DC Universe Online, which is now FREE to play.

You now don’t have to pay a penny, nickel, cent or dime to team up with Bats, Wonder Woman and the Flash to kick some bad guy tail – possibly yours, Copperhead.

For those not in know, free access includes:

“Access to the base game content in DC Universe Online, including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts outside of DLC packs. Free Access provides players with the ability to create two characters, join a League and many other benefits. Free level players can also purchase DLC packs, additional character slots, and more in-game. “

DC Universe Online is now free to download on both Steam and PSN meaning nothing’s preventing you from re-enacting as many Justice League fantasies as possible.

  1. At 14GB odd download it would end up costing me in fees for going over my download quota!

    • 18gb I’ve got it down as.

      • 18GB!!! At £2 a GB for going over I think I’ll not bother.

      • i would like to try it out but 18gb is too much for something i’ll probably only try once or twice.

    • i am sure it said on the US Blog that it was up to 22GB? anyway there is no way i could download that much because of my monthly limits :(

  2. I’ll let you know what I think when it finishes downloading at easter… :|

  3. Like people have already posted, I would love to download this, as its a game that I’ve been interested in for ages, but I really doubt my ISP will be happy with my downloading it :(

  4. i was in the open beta and loved it! it was already downloading all last night and today, and it will hopefully be ready when i get home :-D

  5. I had to stop it downloading because I had waited over 4 hours and my wife wanted to play LBP. I’ll have to leave it overnight! Insane!

  6. If I can make time to download it, I’ll try it out.

  7. Does it download in the background?
The PSN download was a hundred mb…
Will I have to download the world’s biggest patch?

    • I think that is a download client. I would like it more if the download worked like with other things that you can download from the store direct download or what ever it is. That way i could pause it and download it a few GB a day cause this would probably take me at least a week to download lol

    • 122mb from the store…
      Then 120(ish)mb update…
Then, once you boot up the game – 14gb to download.

I don’t think you can download in background either :(

    • it doesn’t download in the background, but at least you can resume if you interrupt the download

      • Good to know.
I’m very close to stopping it so I can play BF3 instead!

      • That is good to know maybe i’ll try it if i can get enough HDD space

  8. finally i can whip the game out of my press kit been wanting to play this but couldn’t justify a monthly fee as i know i wouldnt be playing it everyday

  9. Ah right so the entire thing isn’t 25gb? It’s just 14 but you need double the space on the hard drive?

  10. It says it is unavailable for maintenance when I boot it up.
