Remake of Zelda: A Link To The Past In 3D A ‘Possibility’

After the launch of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS, there’s been clamour for a jazzed up version of the other N64 classic Zelda, Majora’s Mask.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has outlined that the next step in the Zelda remake chain might skip back a generation to A Link to Past, instead of the rather under-appreciated Majora’s Mask.

“Well actually, even Mr. Miyamoto himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games.

“In particular, the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds,

“That’s something that might be interesting to do, so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future.”

3D remake of A Link to the Past has the potential to be amazing – at least it’d require more effort to make than a Majora’s Mask update, right guys?

  1. Crap. I might have to buy a 3DS… A link to the Past is my favourite Zelda game of the bunch closely followed by Majora’s Mask.

  2. Please make this true. I absolutely love Link to the Past on the SNES

  3. Absolutely amazing if true. Would pretty much guarantee a purchase of 3DS

  4. 3D or not, make it look like this:

  5. Basically just 3D dot game heroes then? But official… y’know.

  6. Haven’t got the 3DS due to the lack of great games avaialble but if they are going to start churning out 3D zelda games I reckon I’ll have to put my hand in my pocket!

  7. I bought my 3DS day one (Yes, you can laugh!), have been relatively pleased with it, especially Ocarina. But there are some superb games coming now, Starfox, Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart.
Mario 3D Land looks amazing!! Anybody know when the Early Adopter GBA games are arriving??

    • No idea personally, but I was under the impression they were supposed to be coming out by the end of the year.

Still a month and a half to go I guess?
