So, Doctor Who, that kids TV show that grown ups love to watch, is getting another outing on PC and also coming to a couple of Sony’s lovely gaming devices too.
I know almost nothing about The Doctor, other than how fun it is to troll fans of the series (it’s for kids, seriously) and that the Daleks make a horrible racket. So perhaps it’s best if I just pass you on to the BBC’s own press release:
Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth.
Sounds… interesting, I guess? Nice to see them coming to the PS3 and Vita, at least. Does any Doctor Who fan want to step in here and explain? No? Well, okay then, I’ll just leave you with this entirely made up conversation that two conflicting voices in my head had when I heard this news:
Who is coming to the PC PlayStation 3 and Vita.
I don’t know, who is?
No, Who is coming.
Who?
Yes.
What? Who is coming?
Yes, that’s right.
Make me a cup of coffee, you idiot.
The game is set for an early 2012 release and will be followed by two more that will be announced next year. It’s being made by supermassive games, so at least it has some good pedigree behind it!
Here’s a video:
Update: The video seems to be having some problems on YouTube, sorry about that. Hopefully it corrects itself soon.

any jammy dodgers to go with that coffee?
JoshHood
It’s not for kids dammit!
Also, great news! Hopefully it’ll be better than the godawful DS and Wii games.
Ben
Who says kids can’t watch it? Even if they do so from behind the sofa.

I have little to no experience with the series, but I like the premise – please forgive me for wanting this to be a point’n’clicker in the style of Broken Sword or Syberia.

Was just thinking it would be good to be a Sam and Max type game, especially with that game’s playing around with time

No Xbox?
Ben
Supermassive Games don’t usually…
JBoo
No because the Doctor went into the future in his time machine & the Xbox brand didn’t exist anymore :D
I can’t F-IN wait:P + it’s not just for Kids Doctor Who. Only people who don’t like it say that lol
GhostViper
Kids show? If this where shown on children’s tv in Norway, there would be a lot of angry parrents.
Anyway, looking forward to this. Gonna be fun with an adventure with only the Doctor and River.
Hoping that one can move the save between ps3 and Vita.
Omac_brother
Im 100% certain that I wont be purchasing this.
bacon_nuts
Conversation made me laugh.

Is that coffee made from cat poo? ;)
I’m not going to hold my breath as games based on films/tv tend to be crud. I wonder if we will be able to explore the universe or if it will be very linear?
mugsybalone
So, this is part of Sony’s plans to open up the PS3 to a younger audience, then?
colossalblue
:D

All they need now is a Pokémon game and soon PS3’s will be out of bounds to anyone who has been through puberty.
Jakster123x
Hmm, I guess it adds to Vita’s roster of games
