UK Chart: FIFA Takes The Top Spot

The latest UK Chart positions are in, and once again FIFA 12 has taken the top spot. Battlefield 3 has leapfrogged Modern Warfare 3, and Zumba has a strong showing with the original game in sixth, and the sequel in 12th.

I can’t imagine too much movement in this chart for the next few weeks, but then there will be a games explosion and the Vita launch.

  1. oh ZUmba Fitness 2 isn’t doing well,what gives?

    • I guess most people bought the original, and lets be honest. There is only so much you can do with those sort of games.

    • It looks like all the potential Zumba 2 players were down my local gym this morning instead. The place was packed out at 9am!

  2. Pleasantly surprised to see BF3 higher up than that fishing game (CoD). I’d like to think this is a sign of more people making their buying choices based on the quality of a product and not just on a familiar name or “what my mates are on”

    • I suspect it’s due to BF3 being significantly reduced in price more than anything.

  3. and there’s ONE new IP there.

well two if you count Zumba, but then as it’s sequel is also there it’s not really new anymore is it? ^_^

  4. Sad to see only one game in the top 20 isn’t just another sequel :(

    • I started Rage at the weekend and love it – a great new IP for under £10 – absolute bargain! It’s a little bit repetitive but no worse than Fallout 3 and Borderlands, which both got GOTY didn’t they?!

      • No worse than Fallout 3?! That game is astoundingly good in my opinion. Even with the looking nice, the demo of rage was nothing compared to Fallout 3. I just can’t wait for Fallout 4 to come along with the Skyrim updated engine. I would have liked rage though, in all honesty. the AI was great, as were the weapons and ammo system, but the buggies were awful, and the pop in was very, very annoying. Massive shame.

  5. *sees that Zumba is gathering strength and gathers the TSA mob* :P

Who keeps buying Fifa 12? Surely, every footie fan owns it now?

BF3 outselling MW3? :O I was not expecting that. Usually, COD games tend to dominate the charts for months.

Okay, who keeps buying NFS:The Runs? Hang on, do i see Zumba 2 struggling?! :O Then again, those types of games can just be update with new songs unless there is a few features that the dev want to put in a game.

    • Agreed about FIFA12. It always amazes me how many people continue to buy the game even 12 months after release. Still, it is a quality game and I still get plenty of abuse from opposing online players – Makes me laugh.

    • yeah but there must’ve been a reason that it was top for so long, gamers just want something new and fresh *cough*

  6. Go Rayman! :D

    • Rayman Origins is excellent, and even better when played two local players. My son and I spent hours on the game over Christmas but, now he has Moshi Monsters on his DS and I may not see him for months… ;-)

      • I only have two controllers but I’m sure it would be even more fun if you play it with three or four people. It definitely brings out the crazy in girls. My girlfriend had a few girlfriends over and they played Rayman Origins. Boy, if you ever want to hear a woman scream “HIT ME! GOD DAMNIT! HIT ME ALREADY! without paying money you just have to let them play Rayman Origins. Everytime someone died the other one had to hit the bubble to get the character back into the game (for those of you who don’t know the game). Hilarious much, I tell you. :D

    • Go, GO Sonic…. Great to see a few Platformers in the charts

    • Hehe.
Ordered Rayman Origins for £5.96 on Amazon last night for the Vita.
Price is up to £35 today.
Here’s hoping they honour my pre-order… (And my similarly priced pre-orders of Asphalt, Lumines and Dungeon Hunter Alliance) :D

  7. Who’s still buying NFS: The Run?!

    • Me?… oh wait no, I don’t really know maybe people are just not well informed its certainly not the best of the recent Need of Speeds by what memory I could gather to remember?

    • The people who didn’t try the demo, certainly put me off buying it.

  8. FIFA12 is only £26.99 on Amazon.

    • £27.85 with Karate Kid Blu-Ray at ShopTo.

  9. Good to see Rayman making the chart but how the hell is The Run so high up above games like Forza and Mario 3D….mind boggles! :O
