Nintendo Blocks Binding Of Isaac 3DS eShop Release

The Binding Of Isaac, the hit indie game from Team Meat, won’t be finding its way to the  3DS because of the ‘questionable religious content’ in the title, according to Nintendo.

Super Meat Boy co-creator Edmund McMillen broke the bad news on Twitter:

Attention: After a long internal debate Nintendo has decided NOT to allow the Binding of Isaac on the 3ds. :(

As many assumed the reasons were due to the games “questionable religious content”.

Thank GOD Steam exists!

The game tells the story of Isaac, who is forced to flee into a monster infested basement after his mother hears a message from ‘above’, telling her to prove her faith by killing her son.

For those wondering what the hoo-hah is all about, The Binding of Isaac takes inspiration from the biblical story of the same name.

  1. I suppose they are telling the story in a funny, not so serious way? People are too sensitive about these kind of things.

  2. Really? Your loss Nintendo.

  3. Hang on, Ninty are saying the game has “questionable religious content” – but it’s based on a bible story? So Ninty are saying the Bible has “questionable religious content”?

    • I’d certainly agree that the whole thing is questionable!

    • I can only imagine that they are presenting the content in a funny or mocking way that could offend religious people. It’s stupid, no matter how you look at it.

    • The Bible has “questionable content” full stop.

    • Excellent point Tuffcub.

  4. Sounds fairly interesting actually.
Bad for 3DS owners. Bad/Good for Team Meat. Good for Steam.

  5. Too bad. It’s a cool little game, and I think it could have been great on a handheld like the 3DS.

  6. say hello vita!!!
