Some people are getting rather upset over the ending of Mass Effect 3, which has lead to the co-founder of BioWare, Dr. Ray Muzyka, writing a rather lengthy letter to fans.
“Building on their research,” he says, “Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey.”
“You’ll hear more on this in April,” he adds.
“We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.”
“This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue.”
Rather vague but it seems to indicate that the team might be pursuing some DLC to accompany the ending. Some outlets are reporting that this means there’s going to be a brand new ending – this, as far as we know, won’t be the case.

new ending, Shepard is actually a ghost?
doswillrule
Thank the Goddess.

So they all died in the plane crash & it was all a dream
Uhyve
That would actually be better than the current ending due to it making more sense…

Specialist Traynor wakes up to find Shepherd in the shower more like…

Ha!
The Lone Steven
It turns out that Shepard is actually an inmate at an Asylum and the events of ME1-3 was his imagination.
Forrest_01
Ah, so it was all a ruse to get thousands of annoyed fans to buy paid-for DLC to get the ending they actually want.
Slick Bioware, very slick. :)
maneorix
I don’t think that’s far off ;)
KeRaSh
I don’t think that was actually planned beforehand but the reaction of the fans delivered a perfect oportunity for them to cash in on their hate. To be honest, I think it would be fair if a different ending came as paid DLC. If you are not happy with what you’ve got then deal with it. People have to spend hundreds of hours to please you so don’t expect it to be free.
SH Number 7/Mini-Lipscombe
New ending Shepard has been in a comma since Eden Prime, he never became a Spectre, Reapers don’t exist, and he never became a hero.

Must. Have. Codex. Entries. To. Explain. Everything. As. All. Other. Brain. Cells. Have. Been. Diverted. To. Hate.
Foxhound_Solid
haha…might not play it if this is what it does to you….
maneorix
Reading them would actually go some way to explain ;)
blarty
My point exactly, any concept of imagination, interpretation, hell even putting your own spin on things so they make sense to YOU has been completely forfeited – so many people seem to need Bioware to spoon feed them an ending that they don’t really have to think about.
Deathbrin
You don’t even have to read those, they are being read to you!
BIGAL-1992
With every respect mate, a codex entry would have to added BEFORE the end of the game, which in doing so would be a dead giveaway to the ending. More to the point, I think a lot of people who’d want closure on the ending would have found that dissatisfactory as they’d only be taking the entry in the codex as proof of what happened in the end. They’d want to know what happened in visual form(i.e in-game events) rather then a single written entry in the codex.
maneorix
No, it wouldn’t give anything away. Besides, you seem to have no idea which codex entries that are being referred to here.
mitchjay
I’m glad that you picked up on it being additional content on top of the current ending because that’s how the original blog post read.
Slightly annoys me that other websites are claiming it’s a new ending when it seems further from that now considering Ray and the Bioware team have stated that they feel it’s a form of art and they love the ending – sounds like they won’t change it but will offer more closure and answers.
Great for me! It’s what I wanted. :)

I actually thought of a good way to explain this situation to people who haven’t completed the game (or just aren’t fans of Mass Effect).
It would be like a Star Wars fan demanding that Lucas gets rid of Jar Jar Binks, he’d know it’s very unlikely that anything will come of it, but it’s not crazy trying to get it done, because Jar Jar is just that awful and whoever was responsible should no longer be allowed to write (under punishment of a long prison sentence).
Deathbrin
Jar Jar is just easy to hate on. ;(
hazelam
if you don’t like the ending, buy a new one.
Deathbrin
And then a new one. You might even have all those 16 endings on the Store.
