GAME Reward Cards Accepted Again

The official GAME Twitter account has mentioned that reward point cards are now being accepted again (assuming you didn’t flog yours to ShopTo), although currently it’s just against pre-owned stock as the administrators start to figure things out.

“Your Reward Cards have now been reactivated by the Administrators for redemption against pre-owned stock,” said the account.  “This means that points can be earned on all products AND redeemed against pre-owned items as of now.”

“This only applies to Reward Cards only, at present moment.”

The same Twitter account also says that the website should be back “soon”.

  1. This is a good sign, right?

  2. This is good to hear. I’m glad that we can still have a dedicated games shop on the high street and that peoples jobs look like they’re safe.

  3. Ah, the fun (now) of finding a store that’s open. Good luck!

  4. Unless you are in Ireland as there are no stores left.

    • Cambridge is still alive and well I believe. Wasn’t in that death list anywho

      • You’ve seen deaths list??? :O

Where was i on it?? Wait, no don’t tell me! Ok, go on then. No don’t!! :S

  5. It’s a bit disappointing you can only spend it on pre-owned stuff.

    • Better this than nothing to be honest.

    • It’s a step in the right direction and shows us that progress is being made. I would expect it to be across the board soon enough

  6. This is good news. Hopefully things will slowly get ironed out and GAME will stay and start functioning normally with a better service.

  7. sorry but I see this as a whole publicity stunt. They probably had a deal settled with RBS before they said they were going into administration. Free advertising really.

    • Riiight.

& how do the people employed up to a couple of days ago feel about that??

    • I too think reorganisation, closures and other stuff was planned prior to going into administration.

Adminstration gave them the ability to shed loss making stores (or at least duplicated stores) and jobs without having to pay out, it also means they’ll have been able to negotiate a reduced amount to people they owe money too.

All this means RBS will be in for a good deal if they do buy it out of administration… they’ll have a well established brand, well over 300 stores, & business which is still capable of taking around a billion or more through its tills… They’ve just lost all the negative stuff that was dragging it down & they’ve lost it all on the cheap as it will be a different company with vastly reduced liabilities.

there was many financial reasons for doing this, but publicity wasn’t one of them.

  8. I was in the Barnsley store this morning and there pre-owned stock is still more expensive than CEX, which is only about 100 yards away.

  9. That seems like good news, it was looking like those reward cards were no good anymore.

    • Well, still good for £3 at shopto! :)

      • ha ha,yes but not great for those who had a wee bit more on their card ;)

      • Yeah, indeed – That £3 shopto deal probably didn’t look so attractive if you had £25+ on it!

Mind you, it probably didn’t look so attractive even if you had anything more than £3 on it either! :)

  10. While the fire sale/spring sale was on going I set up some stock alerts for various PS3 games. Around 1pm one of those stocks alerts were triggered. So maybe the site may be back up with stock available that they have recovered from the closed stores. Whether the item will still be at a good price or not… Fingers crossed. Although I doubt it. Let’s just hope that if the stores do open again that their prices are competitive.
