PS Suite Now Into Open Beta, Download Away

Just a quick one – PlayStation Suite is now in open beta, with the SDK open to anyone.

“We are very happy to inform you that the Open Beta phase of Developer Program for PlayStation Suite is now ready,” Sony said in an email to TheSixthAxis this morning.

“Developers around the world can join Open Beta.”

We’re told that the closed beta test has just ended, with participants automatically getting access to the Open Beta. The best news is that you can test and debug games and applications developed with the PS Suite SDK on a normal PlayStation Vita system.

The developer suite can be downloaded from here.

  1. Let the games begin.

  2. Can you develop apps in the mobile phone sense for this? E.g., news aggregators or stuff

  3. Has anyone seen the SDK in terms of the APIs available? What can/cannot be done with this thing?

    • I’ve only had a quick look but it’s all C# and is very Visual Studio-like, so I would imagine it includes everything you can do in that. There is built-in 2D Graphics and 2D Physics engines also. Also a visual UI builder.

  4. I’d like to have a go at this but I’m worried it’ll be way over my head – I can only just manage making LBP levels.

  5. Great. Hopefully this will give the Vita some sort of boost.

  6. What does it all mean?

  7. @Nickboss1 Fart apps.

  8. Headline gens can’t wait for dat on the PSV.

  9. If I have a good microphone can I just talk into it and have this make the game I describe? I’ll even draw a picture of it, if that helps?

    • The computer will expect a damn good picture.

  10. This sounds great, although I don’t particularly fancy learning C# and another graphics engine. I’d love to develop a game for the PS Vita though, I shall have to look into this :3
