Starhawk Scrapes Into UK Charts At Number 17

Sony’s Starhawk, the follow up to Warhawk, has charted this week but at a disappointing 17th place, with 505’s Sniper Elite V2 still at the top, even though sales for the title were down nearly 40%.

EA’s dominance of the rest of the charts, along with strong games from the likes of Ubisoft and Activision, complete the picture.

We’re not really sure what went wrong with Starhawk – the game’s great but perhaps the advertising wasn’t up to scratch and, maybe, people would have preferred it on PSN rather than disk.

  1. I had no idea it was being released so soon until a couple weeks ago, now I know I’m not involved as much these days but still Sony… where is the advertising?

  2. I believe the US Limited Edition did not make it here due to the PS1 Warhawk EU conversions taking longer, which scraped into the EU Blog a few days before release. I’ve written before about the problems with information on this and the DLC preorder problems.

I think Sony were late getting much ready for release, and that must have had an effect.

Just starting up the Starhawk side of our clan, check us out google Grumpy Old Men clan, over 100 active members over loads of PS3 games. Males over 21 only, english speaking, you don’t have to be awesome, just up for fun..

    • Haha – That sounds like ‘grooming’ speak if ever i heard it! :P

      • oh dear you are right, sounds well dodgy :O

  3. I’m surprised it’s that high in the charts given the fact that hardly any stores have it, argos don’t have it, not even a page for it on their site, blockbuster don’t have it, but do online, amazon.co.uk sold out, various sites have it listed but have shipped 1-2 weeks or within a month.

Wish I had known there would have been a problem with in store stocks as i would have pre ordered it, but now that max payne 3 is out this week starhawk may have to take a backseat for a while, shame really was looking forward to playing it. Anyway hope all those who were able to get a copy of it are having a good time with it.

    • Bloody crappy distributors

Oh, it’s Sony themselves, well… SCEE anyway.

      • My game actually came with a sticker on saying property of Sony as well which is weird. Never had that before so perhaps that has something to do with the awful distribution?

      • Thought as much, I’m in Birmingham, and have not been able to find it in local stores blockbuster, sainsburys, argos, must admit not been able to check in town at hmv or whatever game store is still open, so not sure if they have it, would assume they must be though…surely…?

Might try and check the new tesco after work (if I can be bothered, as it’s a little out of my way) but seeing as though some people are saying that asda still aren’t stocking it, it might be a dissapointning journey…and ordering it online will be pointless now as it will most likely arrive with max payne 3…any date on the review for that yet? :) Please say it’s good

      • @B1ack_Magic – Where did you get yours from? I ask as Game were getting stock with those stickers on when they had credit issues, so maybe Sony are still a little concerned about their future?

Alternatively, maybe they have just started labelling all their stock that way since then?

      • @Forrest Mine had that sticker, I preordered it from HMV.

      • Yeah mine was from HMV as well.

      • Ah, i think its something exclusive to both Game & HMV then. They have both had their share of troubles.

  4. It’s a huge shame as its a great game – really enjoying it and can see myself playing online for a long time – assuming any one else gets it!

  5. I got star hawk today, when is the next tsa meet?

  6. Game doesn’t seem half bad. I personally wasn’t gonna buy it. But if I didn’t have a clue about it I still wouldn’t have bought it because the advertisement and hype of this game was terrible. Who knew it had a single player campaign. I mean like really new. i just found. maybe the returning Starhawk players but general mass wasn’t really aware. Some people don’t like multilayer. Some play for the campaign. What about those sales. Advertise everything and push it hard. IDK if Sony is stupid, cheap or just horrible when it comes to advertising but geez it is lacking on some titles. Resistance 3, Killzone 3, Infamous 2, MotorStorm Apocalypse all titles were very good, but advertising was very BAD especially for Resistance 3.

  7. It’s been a few days after release and the local ASDA still isn’t stocking Starhawk. For the record, they are usually up to date with their launches.

Not going to bother with Starhawk until after my exams now.
