Looks Like a New Dragon Ball Z Game is Coming

I don’t know the first thing about Dragon Ball Z. It’s one of those incredibly popular cult hits that has completely sailed me by. I know a lot of you love it though, so turn that frown upside down and rejoice: it looks like there’s another DBZ game in the works.

According to Andriasang, who uncovered the information the Japanese magazine about Manga and related videogames – V Jump – it’s going to be called “Sparking Omega” and will be the final piece in the Sparking series. It will also feature the largest number of characters yet seen in the series.

The game is allegedly due for release in winter this year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, we assume it will be published by Namco Bandai, as the last few have. Expect more solid confirmation next week.

  1. There hasn’t been a good Dragon Ball game since the Budokai Tenkaichi series on PS2, and since that looks like it might be getting a HD remake I’m very happy about that, I just hope it doesn’t seem dated now.

Stupid thing is DBZ is what got me and all my friends into anime, and the Budokai Tenkaichi games were so fun to play with a group of friends I always end up buying the latest game and then being massively disapointed. So when this comes out I will probably be getting it, and then be disappointed again.

  2. DBZ games this gen have been mediocre imo. If only we could get Budokai 3 HD.

  3. Hope they release a demo because the Sparking series is the Budokai Tenkaichi series in the west.

Compared to BT3 the two Raging Blast games were shite, but the way you fought, the characters controlled and the way you performed Super Attacks. (not to mention a fully charged Kamehameha didn’t look so impressive when fired, whereas in BT3 it was just like in the anime)

I hope this game will neatly complete the BT HD collection and won’t be just another Raging Blast game.

  4. What was Ultimate Tenkaichi called? I hope it isn’t a sequal to that wasn’t even a fighting game.

  5. I didnt’t mind the Tenkaichi series, but Budokai 3 on PS2 remains my favourite fighting game ever. I hate the 3D angle you fight at in Tenkaichi, and the Ultimate Moves were much more impressive in Budokai 3- as i keep saying, a 2D Budokai PS3 game, that wasn’t shite like Burst Limit, would rock!

  6. How the hell is Budokai 3 better than Tenkaichi? I’ve noticed it to be always contested amongst the internets, simply Budokai was always mediocre and the Tenkaichi series introduced a new fighting system that was refined for the second games of the budokai spin-offs making it a really addictive game that never got old or boring.

    /nerd rage over.
