Today, according to one site, SEGA will announce that they’re bringing Phantasy Star Online 2 to Europe in early 2013, via a press release and an update to the official site.

The free-to-play “multiplayer action RPG” will be heading to North America and Europe, over a decade after the first game hit the Dreamcast.

“Phantasy Star Online was a revolutionary game when it was released, and we want to make sure that its successor in the series is every bit as ambitious,” said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “We look forward to introducing Phantasy Star Online 2’s unique, easy-to-access multiplayer action to the rest of the world next year!”

If you’ve never played a proper PSO title, they’re brilliant fun, and deeply addictive.

  1. Lazy Bast…..
Why, Sega? Why does it take you that long to translate some text? They already announced that they would limit the available languages to a bare minimum.
Just hurry up. I want to play this but not in Japanese…

  2. I’ll be all over this when it finally arrives!

  3. next year?
    that’s, like, years away. :(

    anyway.

i’ve been a big fan of this series over the years, from the original on Dreamcast to the Universe series on ps2 and 360.

it took them long enough to give the game a proper sequel in the Universe games, whey they finally gave you control of the camera with the right stick and more importantly a lock on, you you weren’t aiming in the enemy’s general direction and hoping for the best, which was about all you could do without proper camera controls..

i’ve got the Ambition of the Illuminatis game on ps2, which was great until i got to one mission where i have to chase some person or monster through these caves but i just kept going round in circles following it,
i must have gone round that whole cave a dozen bloody times before giving up.
i’m guessing you have to follow a specific route, but there’s nothing to indicate what that bloody route is.
just following your target takes you round in circles.

i should see if there’s a walkthrough on youtube or something.
i’ll probably have to reach that point again, it’s been a few years since i played it and i don’t know if i still have my save.

anyway, again, i’d love to play this one, but i can’t read japanese, so i’ll have to wait for a localised version.

    • I just wished they would upload Phantasy Star Portable 1 and/or 2 to the PSN so I could play it on my Vita until they release PSO2…

      • Absolutely! I don’t know why so many Sega games aren’t available (this and Valkyria Chronicles in particular).

  4. dang typos. :(

    i meant when not whey.
why would i even put a y there anyway?
it’s not like it’s next to the right letter and i just missed slightly. o_O

    • Could make for a fun game.. tryin to figure out what a sentence full of typo’s is actually meant to say.

      Gtear udea I tjimk =]
