  1. Might pick up LAnoire and payday heist.
    and the gta psp titles.

  2. Some decent prices there for some stuff.

Anyone got any recommendations for the PS3 store games (i.e. those games not released on disc)?

    • Not a recommendation per se, but the Payday bundle looks good value, and you do like your FPS’ :-)

      • I do like quirky FPS (such as Bioshock & Singularity) & i am quite the fan of Battlefield of course, but i actually used to hate FPS. Not a fan of not knowing whats going on behind me you see. :)

It’s only because there has been such a surge in FPS titles this gen as opposed to any other genre that i have played as many titles as i have.

But that bundle, is that just the one DLC pack that got released the other day, or is that the game too? The price suggests both, but i never make assumptions where SCEE is involved.

      • the bundle is the game and the dlc. it says so in the psn store description.

i’ve been wanting to get that game since it came out, but i couldn’t convince anyone on my friends list to buy. =(

i’m still debating whether to buy it or not. it’s gonna be £18 after the deal!

    • Real Steel is surprisingly good fun (like the film in that respect), developed by Yukes who have a solid reputation in the genre. It’s good value too if you’ve got a Plus membership (hard to argue with for a couple of quid)!

      • I actually enjoyed the film as well (without really expecting to), so i see where you are coming from. Yukes used to (don’t know if they still do) do the WWE games didn’t they?

Not a plusser though, so i would still be looking just shy of a fiver.

      • Yukes did the “Smackdown” series and some UFC games as well, according to Wikipedia. It’s pretty good fun, build your robot, fight your way through a multi-tiered league, earning cash for new parts. It can be a bit of a grind because the strength of the opponents isn’t always a steady increase, at times it shoots up but it does add to the longevity of the game.

Playing it is straightforward enough, the four buttons are mapped to left hard/right hard/left fast/right fast punches with variations applied with the left stick, a button for blocking, a button for dodging and a “special attack” mean it’s easy enough to pick up – though how effective and responsive the controls are is also down to whether your robot is built for speed and agility or just raw hitting power – don’t expect a ton of steel to float majestically and respond perfectly to the controls!

There’s an online mode too, though I haven’t tried it so I couldn’t comment on how well it works or how active the servers are.

    • Additionally, looking at the list, i would be interested for thoughts on any games from TNT Racers down to Eufloria (if anyone has any input to give!).

      • TNT Racers was OK at best.
However, if you like puzzle games like ‘The Incredible Machine’ then try out Crazy Machines Elements, it has plenty of single player content plus an editor where you can make your own puzzles.

      • Thanks man.

Yeah, was kinda looking at that – Is that the one where you control a crazy professor dude & make stuff up out of almost anything (such as vehicles & the like)?

If so, i think i saw the vid on the store & was intrigued, but not for the price it was at the time.

      • That’s Doc Clock you’re thinking of. Crazy Machines is a bunch of single screen puzzles, where you have to do stuff like get a bowling ball from one side of the screen to the other and into a bin by using a limited selection of items (fans, ropes, torches, conveyor belts, etc).
There is a demo, so at least you can try before you (potentially) buy.

      • Ah ok – Yes, you are right now that i see the name.

Will take a look later after the meet methinks. :)

        Thanks for the info man.

      • I’ll second Rim’s thumbs up for Crazy Machines. The whole series on PC is great, the ps3 version is very good too. TNT Racers is short lived fun. It’s nice enough but as a cute top down racer, Bang Bang Racing trumps it imho. Eufloria is a strange one. I personally enjoyed it but it really seems to polarise. I suppose the closest game out there already to it is a really hands off Mushroom Wars. It’s a slow burning tactical flower petal war and you send your seeds off to try and win over as many planets as possible. If you enjoy offbeat games you may like it. Zack Zero’s good enough as a 2D platformer, it’s quite well done graphically and you change suits to change your abilities so the gameplay does change a bit. I will give a huge thumbs up for Burgertime World Tour though. It’s so frustratingly challenging like its old school original. Silly, irrelevant and it still makes me smile being chased around by angry sausages.

  3. 3 GTA games at £4 each. Bargain!

  4. I’m tempted by Hydrophobia for such an awesome price. Has anyone played it and is it worth getting?

    • Worth getting for just over a pound :)

      • Yeah, i was thinking that tbh – Got quite a big install if i recall correctly though (big for a PSN game at least).

      • I can’t quite remember how big the game is, but it’s over 1GB,
it’s not a bad game really, the water physics are great though, worth a playthrough then delete it.

      • Thanks OK! Is the story any good? I can forgive an okay game of it has a good plot.

      • Not really sadly :P

      • I see, I’ll read a review or two first then, muchos gracias!

    • I’ve just finished it last week, really enjoyed it. Not brilliant but well worth the cheap price

  5. my vita going get psp treatment, all the gta, i already have china town worst gta ever!!

manhunt and warriors and midnight club LA remix

  6. haha so they caved and decided to post all the deals huh? lol

  7. Looks pretty poor to me… But I’ve been recently spoiled by the Steam sale. I spend about $220 during that, but there’s nothing here for me.

  8. um, nothing of interest here tbh, seems a pretty weak list IMHO.

I would have gone for the GTA’s on PSP but I already own them, and i would recommend China Town Wars over the other 2, without the 2nd analogue stick they just dont work well.

I imagine this has been done because no one is playing/buying any games at the mo, but if this is whats offered to entice people in then its no real surprise people stay away…

  9. hmmm they have raised the price of Zach Zero as I only paid £1.20 for it on Wed – hope whatever new special item that comes on Sunday is good

    • That would make sense if you are a plusser – It’s 50% off on plus. :)

Didn’t know these had been reduced since weds though.

  10. it would be nice if you could buy stuff on sale if you’d got it previously through a plus sub, i’d love to be able to buy a copy of Hydrophobia to keep in case i ever stop subscribing at some point.

    • I’ve been wanting to do that for ages. There’s some MINI’s I want to keep forever that I got for free.
