Harmonix Hiring For Combat Based Next Gen Project

Harmonix, who you will probably know best for their work on Rock Band, appears to be branching out. There’s a job advert, over on Gamasutra, that says they’ve got spaces for “exceptional artists, designers, coders & more” but the job in question is specifically advertising for a Combat Designer.

So it seems like Harmonix is planning to diversify on their usual music-based output. Specifically, they’re looking for someone “to create real-time, single-player combat experiences for a brand new IP on next-generation hardware.” That all sounds pretty exciting, given the studio’s history for creating hits. The advert goes on to say that this project “is unlike anything Harmonix has ever done before.”

They’re looking for at least two year’s experience at real time combat design so we can assume that they’re also departing from their timing, rhythm based gameplay. They also specifically mention a preference for having worked on consoles.

Must be a Wii U project, right? I mean, Microsoft and Sony definitely don’t have any new consoles on the way…
