Sony Reveals New PlayStation Store

Remember that little snippet about the PlayStation Store getting a “new look”? It’s here, if you want to refresh your memory. Well, it was all (naturally) true, and at a special press reveal this morning in London – Sony are currently showing it off to us.

Many PlayStation owners have (rightly) voiced their opinions on the current PSN Store – it’s a little confusing, it’s hard to find what you’re looking for and it’s generally quite slow, with some icons and sections failing to load completely.

The new store, which is apparently coming very soon (there’s PSN maintenance on Monday, which might be pertinent…) takes lots of comments and feedback on board, and aims to create a massively improved experience for everyone.

We’ll have a full report on the new Store shortly, complete with interviews with key executives responsible for the changes and hopefully some answers to the questions we’ve all been asking for some time now. Stay tuned to TheSixthAxis today for all the news first hand.

  1. Looks nice, let’s just hope it’s quicker to load.

  2. Im impressed, it looks 100x better than what we have now. It looks much easier to navigate and everything is easy to read.

At least you should be able to know what game the DLC is for. Im forever looking at DLC items on the store and it doesnt even say what game its for.

  3. I want Sony to include a feature that shows how much you have spent. But my best guess would be that the NEVER will. They don’t want you to know.

  4. Looks excellent. Echoing others’ comments, I would love to see it be considerably faster and some form of download list filtering. Otherwise good job Sony (finally!)

  5. Does anyone has this issue to, when you click preview and there is a Movie instead of Pictures.. the sound is very slow. and the guy saying the Rating scares me.

So I hope this is fixed also.. but yeah it looks nice and I hope the download in background is default.

    • I get that, but only on certain games – Bizarrely enough, usually the ones published by Sony!

It’s fine if the video only contains backing music, but it’s really offputting if there is a narrative & i can’t watch ’em.

It’s pretty much like a demon is doing the voiceover… A slow demon that is.

  6. Sounds better… looks a bit too much like GT5’s menu system to me though :|

  7. Looks slick ^_^

  8. Great news, i’m looking forward to checking it out.

  9. Please can anyone help me? a few days ago I could access the ps store no problem. now all I get is a blank black screen and lose all control of the ps3, I have to switch it off at the back and on again to carry on using it. every single other function works fine, i can play games online, signed into the psn no problem. it’s just the store that’s crashing :( thank you in advance. my email is [email protected]
