DmC Contains No On-Disk DLC

Capcom learning.

Capcom have confirmed to TheSixthAxis this morning that the upcoming Devil May Cry reboot, cutely named DmC, will feature no on-disk DLC.

Capcom have been the subject of much internet moaning over the last year, with several games containing DLC already on the disk, unlocked via Store purchases that were (in some cases) merely 100KB unlock keys.

The most notable title was Resident Evil 6, which causes a minor outcry, but prior to that was Street Fighter X Tekken which featured 12 characters hidden away on the disk.

We played the first half of the game last year: here’s Peter’s in-depth preview, and we’ll have the full review of the rest of the game on the 14th.

The game is out on the 15th.

  1. Why take up precious disk space when you can pump it on the PS Store and XBox Live for day 1 download. I won’t buy a capcom game at full price out of principle.

    • Yeah they will probably have day 1 DLC instead.

      • There is the pre-order dlc but it’s only a skin pack, which i have no problem with.

  2. they claim there won’t be you mean.
haven’t they claimed that before and been proven to be lying?

  3. lol people aren’t all fools.

  4. So people will have to download it instead and wait longer?

    Much better, I’m sure…

  5. i never understood the outcry about on disc DLC.

DLC is here and it ain’t gonna go away, and no amount of moaning will change that.

but i’d rather have it on the disc where it doesn’t fill up my hard drive.

  6. Shock news: game does not contain something people don’t like.

In other news, the case will not contain shards of broken glass, nor will the disc be printed using lead based paint.

    :P

    • no broken glass shards?

      i’m outraged. >_<

don't much care about the lead based paint though, i can easily get my fix from a few pencils.

  7. The only DLC I approve of is ones to unlock in game content early but that it is always available to unlock through gaming. Any other ‘expansion packs’ are only okay if they are made after the game’s release and contain at least 20% more playing time for something that typically costs 20% of the price.

Is it usual for games to be coming out on Tuesday’s now? I thought it was always Friday’s.

    • i think the friday date in the uk has something to do with when shops get deliveries, only on one day in the week i think.
takes a day or two to get the games unpacked and out on the shelves, so to get a midweek launch out they have to deliver them the week before.
and i think they’re worried about them going on sale early when that happens.

that’s what i read was the reason some years ago, i don’t know if that’s still the case or if they’ve just got into the habit now.

some big games though will release midweek, i guess capcom see this game as a big release.
