Call Of Duty: Black Ops II Back At The Top Of The UK Charts

The evergreen Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the latest game in the series, is back at the top of the UK sales charts, making this its seventh week, albeit non-consecutively.

Sales of the game grew 20% week on week, proving the first person shooter has serious legs with fans of the annual franchise.

Elsewhere it’s a familiar story – FIFA’s in second place and Ubisoft hold third with Far Cry 3. Interestingly, perhaps, FIFA has become the first game to net £1 billion at UK retail, although that’s apparently through 40 games over the years.

Call of Duty and the Mario series are the second and third best selling series ever.

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Activision)
2. FIFA 13 (EA)
3. Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft)
4. DMC: Devil May Cry (Capcom)
5. Assassin’s Creed III (Ubisoft)
6. Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA)
7. Just Dance 4 (Ubisoft)
8. Football Manager 2013 (Sega)
9. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
10. Hitman Absolution (Square Enix)
11. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Warner)
12. LEGO The Lord of the Rings (Warner)
13. Halo 4 (Microsoft)
14. Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (Sega)
15. Skylanders Giants (Activision)
16. WWE ’13 (THQ)
17. Dishonored (Bethesda)
18. Forza Motorsport 4 (Microsoft)
19. Forza Horizon (Microsoft)
20. Borderlands 2 (2K Games)

  1. It’s depressing! It’s like the soaps always leading the TV ratings. Surely there must be intelligent life outthere somewhere…!

    • Why do you have to be un-intelligent to enjoy games like CoD and FIFA?

    • haha if people want to play CoD then let them play it. I don’t like all the hype but I can honestly say the MP is good. The brand I dare say partly helps the sales/popularity.

  2. How aren’t people bored of COD? It died after the masterpiece MW2.

  3. To be fair, there is pretty good variety (and some exceptional quality) in that list. I’ll admit that it’s a little disappointing to see CoD so far ahead, but it’s reassuring to see games like Dishonored, DMC, Skyrim and even Racing Transformed in the mix too. All of those games, whilst maybe not radical or progressive in the sense that Sixth Axis-ers might expect, are excellent games and I’m glad to see them doing well (especially Dishonored).

  4. Wow, there has been 40 Fifa games…. just wow.

  5. New DLC for BLOPS2 this week so I suppose that could explain the sales boost. The series gets a lot of hate but I am still thoroughly enjoying the MP of BLOPS2. Reached Prestige 2 over the weekend (thanks double xp!), have racked up over 40hours and not even remotely bored of it yet. Excellent stuff :)

  6. Currently struggling to get into Black Ops in any of the three modes and haven’t really enjoyed any of it so far. FIFA is still my most played game as I can just drop in when I have time. I tried out Far Cry 3 co op at the weekend and really didn’t get on with the fact that it isn’t the story mode but with friends. Along with that the menus are clumsy and cluttered and the absence of being able to throw a rock is baffling. Really frustrating as the campaign is so much better but you can’t play with friends.

    • I know what you mean, Far Cry 3’s MP is like a completely different game isn’t it? Its just a boring run from A to B with some enemies to shoot in the middle. It might just be my eyes but the visuals don’t look as good either.

  7. all I got to say is fix now most COD brain washed fans would get it from day one right? so I don’t understand how its still fixing the chart after a few months

  8. Fifa the most broken game online ever especially ultimate team pull your finger out of there and your head from up there EA.
