Sony Teasing Something Big For February 20th, Possibly PS4

If this isn’t teasing the PS4, it’s one hell of a cheeky troll from Sony. That said, it’s pretty likely that the February PlayStation Meeting will indeed be focused on next generation.

The event will be held in New York in approximately three weeks, and whilst the video below gives little away, there’s enough chatter on Twitter from the likes of Geoff Keighley to suggest Sony are about to kick things up a gear.

So, is this the first we’ll see of the PS4 or is this just another teaser of a teaser that’ll end up going nowhere? It’s easy to be sceptical, but it’s also easy to think – yes, this is it.

It’s also worth pointing out that this is a proper PlayStation Meeting. The last time we had one of those the Vita popped out. The time before that? The PlayStation 3. I reckon this is pretty much a lock for PS4, and we’re going to see it very soon indeed.

  1. Just out of curiosity, why does every tease or bit of Sony move speculate to ps4? It could be vita games or upcoming games lol just saying

    • Because it looks nothing like a game trailer or teaser and looks like something hardware based.

      • I agree. To me that looks like something very slick, something very corporate and something that has had a *lot* of money spent on the design. It’s very effective.

        Looks like the intro to the PS4 to me.

    • Because PlayStation Meetings are generally to announce new hardware. It’s coming.

    • Oh I see, then I am intrigued. Maybe just maybe slim vita, 4G vita, coloured vita or ps4

      • Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the last two playstation meetings were for vita and ps3. This is only the third playstation meeting in about 8 years. I can’t see our being anything other than the ps4

      • I think it’ll be a massive announcement for the relaunch of a Move / Vita enabled version of Eye of Judgement.

    • Well I clicked the link on the PS blog a few hours ago and it took me to another youtube video which was longer (the link is actually at the top of this article too). I signed up for extra info there. By the looks of the trailer I’d guess it is a streaming service as I can’t think why they would show off dead space, DMC and zombie HD.

      It could be the PS4, but then equally it could be the streaming service, or both. PS4 would only make sense if they are ready and going to release sometime this year/incredibly early 2014. I don’t think they would get ahead of themselves otherwise.

    • Haha! Counter Strike would be a bigger surprise than the PS4!

  2. The last playstation meeting was January 2011 to announce what was then the ngp. These type of playstation events are console announcement ones.

  7. I got got sooooooooooooooooooooo EXCITED watching that on the Official PS.Blog LoL:D I would love it to be PS4 but it could be something to do with ‘Gaikai’ i bet maybe??? Hmm…i won’t sleep now…dreaming of the FUTURE, SONY/PlayStation Style :D

    • I was thinking the same thing, it might be Gaikai/game streaming. It would certainly be a unique and interesting way of marketing future playstation services (for a range of sony hardware not just another box) before showing us the new box.

  8. Strange how Kaz was saying he was wanting MS to show their hand first, yet Sony seem to already have organised something.

    • The Americans must be going all “Admiral Ackbar” by now.

    • I think he was just bluffing.

    • Deliberate attempt to wrong foot everyone I guess.
      If MS plan to release this year their hardware must be pretty much locked down and costed already, nothing that Sony say is likely to change that.

    • I really hope he was just bluffing when he said that because Sony also said that they wouldn’t let MS go first next gen.
      I’m kind of excited now…
