Final “Evolution of PlayStation” Video Takes A Look Back at the Games

Here we areLater tonight – in about twenty three hours from now – Sony will hold an event detailing the future of PlayStation and look set to reveal the PS4. But you know all that already.

This final video in the “Evolution of PlayStation” series takes a look back at all of the games that have essentially made the PlayStation brand. The voiceover is a bit arrogant this time round but valid points are still made.

Perhaps there’s hints of what’s to come – there’s a heavy focus on Gran Turismo in this video. Could Sony reveal a brand new Gran Turismo title alongside the PS4? We really don’t know, but make sure to be around at 11pm to find out.

It’s all getting a bit exciting, isn’t it?

  1. They can reveal GT6 tomorrow all they want, but there’s no way I’m expecting it to actually release sometime in say, the next 5 years or so.

Still, my eyes will feast on the candy no doubt.

  2. It will be interesting if they just show off the hardware tomorrow, or actually show what it’s capable of. Live demo’s of Killzone 4, Star Wars 1313 or Watch Dogs would be amazing.

    • I hope they don’t go down the same route as PS3 with the Killzone pre-rendered video, surely they can’t make the same mistake twice.

    • Would love to see Watchdogs as a launch title.

  3. If they can get GT6 in the launch window, Sony will have struck gold.

  4. Big emphasis on Gran Turismo. Suppose it’s the biggest brand to run entirely through each home console and the psp.
    Looking forward to tomorrow :)

    • Well today actually, didn’t realize the time!

  5. No hint of arrogance from my perspective. Just confident advertising voice over.

  6. Is it 11pm UK time?

  7. Unfinished Swan was charming and i’m looking forward to seeing what the developers have in store for their next projects.
Nice to see thatgamecompany’s trio featuring in there too. Don’t know if we’ll ever see the like of Journey again but then everything they do is fairly unique.
I’ve always loved the Gran Turismo games as a way of showing off my Playstation of each generation but i’ve never fared very well with any of them. I have no doubt when i see the next gen Gran Turismo i’ll have to try that too.. :/

Anyone seen the Playstation Autotune video on youtube, it’d be quite fitting to post a link except it’s got an advert for gametrailers coverage of the event attached.

    • Yeah I’ve seen it, it’s brilliant i’ll give them that.

  8. Considering i can’t access the forum, i’m gonna hedge my bets here..
I bet the front of the new controller is a one touch screen (ala sony smart watch) which includes friends lists, trophy counts, messages etc) whilst the back (still not seen) has a Vita style ‘touchpad’…I would of put this in the forum but it isn’t working.
    p.s a new angle.

    • Oh and here…

Now correct me if i’m wrong, but there seems to be a hell of a lot of real estate at the back of this ‘prototype’.
Again, apologies for posting on a page.

    • As much as I would like it, the black touch pad doesn’t look like a screen at all. :/

  9. Advertised via champions league last night. All over the news this morning. Everyone knows about the reveal. What do Microsoft know. It’s so exciting, with some huge titles out and incoming and the reveal tonight, I really am fit to burst. Today is a great day to be a Playstationist :-)

    • It’s even on the Radio here in Germany. I guess MS was wrong. :P

      • Sony have certainly played the hype build-up well, now they just have to deliver. After all this, what’re the chances of it being a Vita re-launch and price-drop? ::trollface:: :)

  10. I’m amazed that Sony have actually been able to drum up a considerable amount of hype for a press event, haven’t seen anything like it in a long time. I would not be surprised to see that all demos will be in real time, it’ll be a service to both developers and customers. Roll on 11 pm! :)
