Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Gets Rap-Laden E3 Trailer

This year, Tecmo’s flagship hack n’ slash franchise is taking a slightly different direction than previous iterations.

Instead of spinning out yet another demon-hunting adventure featuring series’ mainstay Ryu Hayabusa, players will adopt the role of an undead ninja hell-bent taking down the iconic poster boy.

From the slick, cell-shaded visuals to the inclusion of ravaging zombie hordes, this could be the change Ninja Gaiden fans have been waiting for. Earlier this year we reviewed both Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 PLUS and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. Though the former was a brilliant exhibit of handheld action gaming, Razor’s Edge, a so-called refinement of last year’s Ninja Gaiden 3, was somewhat of a confused mess.

A few gameplay clips and string of live action footage is hardly enough to judge Yaiba on, though hopefully the game’s robust attitude and new combat system will put Ninja Gaiden back on the map.

  1. If Wu-Tang Clan would be somehow engaged in the development process then I’m sold. Would fit perfectly to their music style. Kind of reminds me of Afro Samurai, anyone else ?
